Movies Better Viewing than Hawks v Saints

Post by Beaussie »

I didn't catch the Hawks v Saints game but from what I've read on other forums it didn't sound like a great game to watch on the box. No surprises then with the TV ratings for the match. Was the footy that bad?

MOVIE repeats featuring Paul Hogan and Johnny Depp were better viewing for thousands of fans who turned off the coverage of Saturday night's Hawthorn and St Kilda game.

Channel 10's coverage of the game started at 7.30pm with 342,000 viewers. However many switched channels at 8.30pm when Channel 9's Crocodile Dundee II and Channel 7's Pirates of the Caribbean started.

The footy finished the night with an average of 287,000 viewers, while Pirates Of The Caribbean had 362,000 and Crocodile Dundee II 159,000.

Between 8.30pm and 8.45pm, Ten's footy coverage went from 351,000 to 240,000. It then shot back to 319,000 after the halftime break and dropped to 214,00 at 10.45pm.

The game was the eighth most-watched program on Saturday night. Nine News was top with 418,000.

I was at the Winton V8 supercars over the weekend. From what Iv'e heard I picked a great weekend to go sleep in a swag. People are saying I was having more fun freezing my balls off and getting rained on all night than having to watch this game. It must have been shocking to watch. lol
