If they don't manage to overtake them this season, then they definitely will overtake them next season

i'm predicting they'll hit 10k before the 1st round and that will grow to about 14-15k. But if their form is good then they'll pass 15k

not bad for a team whose average finish over the last 4 seasons is 9th in a 10 league comp vs the Storm who've had a head start on all the other codes other than Aussie Rules, premiership after premiership but have still to have truly grown at all

Apparently City will be working with some AFL clubs too organizing some sort of co-ordination in terms of ticketing, like buy a ticket for the City game, get a reduced one for an AFL game and vice versa. Great too see some good initiative from our to sports. An awesome option for people that follow both sports or anyone that is interested in learning about the other :)

no doubt little pisser dave will run in here saying its somehow a badthing, not our fault that no Netball clubs were interested in doing a similar thing with the NRL given their image regarding women.

And as has happened for many years, the AFL continues to increased their lead because even a smaller percentage increase results in a larger overall lead

Yes from a purely technical point he's right But what he forgets is this
His argument -

NRL had 100,000 people now we have 200,000 so we are growing outta control
AFL had 600,000 now have 750,000 so they only grew slightly and therefore are in decline.

BUT another argument is this -

NRL only get 3 mil H&A fans attending games for the year - AFL get between 6.2 to 6.5 mil fans attending a game per year - which is a little under half - TV ratings for both sports are about even - participation is overwhelmingly in favour of AFL - that means AFL's potential will always be twice that of NRL as it's fans attending games are less than half that of the AFL!!!!

Now the NRL invested in a massive TV campaign to get people to sign up as members and are trying to figure out how to get more people to attend games - there hasn't been significant gains for their commitment - only marginal gains and in the case of crowds stagnation - yet even with a down turn in Melb of crowds the AFL has still increased in overall crowd numbers AND membership numbers - this supports the second argument and not his!!!!

awesome graph wookie. if you need any help on getting updated a-league numbers send a pm

btw - are junior memberships counted in the overall count or not counted at all

in a-league circles my club got a lot of flack because we counted our 10k junior memberships onto of the 10.6k normal memberships which boosted our total to over 20k - probably tall poppy syndrome from other soccer clubs but i was wondering do nrl and AFL clubs include junior memberships in their count. because in that case at least it shows we did nothing wrong, and if they don't then well, fair enough!
