the NRL finds a new form of revenue

Post by leagueiscrap »

living in the past of the gratitude of kerry packer from bringing the game to commercial tv from the ABC, then thanks to the legalization of pokes, allowing the clubs to catch up & cash up, helping the NRL being a amateur league to a glorified amateur shit show.
through years of trying to raise revenue in other ways, bring fans to the games, raise membership and sponsorship, but only to all fail, the NRL has found other ways to raise revenue

http://www.theage.com.au/rugby-league/l ... zsp7s.html
An NRL investigation has reportedly revealed that a number of players are involved in betting on matches.
The findings by the games integrity unit were laid out to several clubs on Friday, and a number of players are now believed to be facing sanctions, The Weekend Australian reports.
NRL rules forbid any player, player manager, club employee or game official from taking part in gambling in relation to rugby league.
The newspaper said it was unclear how many clubs or players were involved, but that the investigation had involved multiple players and multiple teams.
The investigation was reportedly launched after the NRL and its betting partners conducted a review of gambling within the code.
The NRL declined to comment to The Weekend Australian.
“The integrity unit undertakes a range of inquiries and makes public any findings, if necessary, at the appropriate time,” an NRL spokesperson said.

Watch out Adam psychocrapper will start dredging up articles from the 90's or an article about the ump in Lilydale being attacked by homeless druggies! Even though players are still betting on outcomes - you would think after Ryan Tandy they would know better? But with these meatheads you have to pound things in more than once!
Ryan Tandy found guilty of trying to fix 2010 match between Canterbury Bulldogs and North Queensland Cowboys.

UPDATED: Ryan Tandy has been convicted of match fixing, fined $4000 and placed on a 12-month good behaviour bond. Tandy appeared in court last week, but Magistrate Janet Wahlquist deferred a decision until this morning. In delivering her verdict, Magistrate Wahlquist said there was a clear case he was involved in a plan to make money off the first scoring play of the game. His conviction will be recorded. In handing down her final punishment, the magistrate said his crime involved “significant organisation and … a significant level of criminality” with the participants in the sting standing to earn a substantial amount of money. He will also pay $81 court costs. He appeared devastated as Magistrate Wahlquist said the prosecution had proven its case that he dishonestly attempted to obtain a financial advantage by deception. Tandy was found unsuitable for community service because of his recovery from knee surgery, which has seen him arrive at his past few court appearances on crutches. Tandy's barrister said the sentence would be appealed. Tandy had pleaded not guilty to manipulating the first scoring point of the match "for Sam Ayoub, John Elias and others, to win $113,245 from Tabcorp". Tandy, then a Bulldogs forward, was penalised two minutes into the game for impeding a Cowboys player in front of the posts during a 2010 match, after Tandy spilled the ball and gave away possession. The Cowboys were awarded a penalty but took a tap kick instead of kicking for goal, and scored a try. Magistrate Wahlquist said the case was a circumstantial one, but there was "no other reasonable hypothesis" for the evidence before her. "It's clear that there was a plan to try and manipulate the first score in the game," she said. "Ryan Tandy's role was to do all he could to make sure the Cowboys scored first by kicking a penalty goal ... the prosecution case has been proven." After finding the case proven, the magistrate requested Tandy be assessed for suitability for community service - an option his knee surgery ruled out. His barrister Tony Bellanto QC submitted Tandy was sacked from the Bulldogs following the allegations of match fixing that rocked the NRL, but his client was determined to rehabilitate and get back on the field. The NRL today said any player convicted of match-fixing would be banned from the code for life - but with Tandy's case to be appealed and several other cases to be heard, it was not appropriate to impose the ban on the former Bulldog yet. “Clearly there remain some complex legal arguments to be heard and the rights of individuals through that process must be respected,” NRL boss David Gallop said in a prepared media statement. “The outcome for anyone found guilty of interfering with a match for any improper purpose could not be more apparent. “From the outset, the NRL has involved independent investigators and sought the assistance of the NSW Police in dealing with betting irregularities around the first scoring option in this match and we remain convinced that was and remains best course of action. “We welcome the assistance of the authorities in treating these matters seriously and look forward to the conclusion of all proceedings. “We also welcome Federal and State Governments’ recognition of the importance of giving sports the legislative support and regulatory assistance in dealing with sports betting issues. “We look forward to seeing these policies finalised across all states.” The Tandy incident occurred in a 2010 match between his former club the Bulldogs and the North Queensland Cowboys. Last week, the court also heard that Tandy had a wager on another NRL game, as well as placing bets through a former Sydney . Originally published as Ryan Tandy convicted, fined $4000

Don't have to make a claim.
Cwapper admitted he was seeking info on RD .
The other stalker couldn't wait to get any info & post it( Only thing he had right was my name).
So when he cant argue he resorts to trying to post bits of info..
Bit sad really,& laughable that he seems to think there cant be 2 people in the same city with the same name.
But it keeps him occupied & lets him think he is a good stalker.
Why take that off him.

I have explained before ,but once again for the terminally stupid.
Cwaper seeks info on Rd .
Cwapper gets told something by (I suspect its a poster, who has been banned from many a forum for stalking & posting info about RL fans).

Yes he knew my name from arguing with him on FB forums.
But that is all .
The rest he made up.
& The stalkers on here lapped up the BS & ran with it.

As I have always maintained ,if you cant argue without bringing personal info into it then you have lost.

Sad bunch really.
