The 17-month drugs probe into Essendon Football Club has climaxed following the preparation of a slew of show-cause notices for players by the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority.

At the time of publication, neither Essendon players nor the AFL had received any notification from ASADA that outlined alleged anti-doping rule breaches, but Fairfax Media established that the issuing of numerous notices was set to occur simultaneously.

A total of 34 notices will be issued to players, querying the use of the peptide thymosin Beta 4. It is understood the notices do not concern the use of the controversial anti-obesity drug AOD-9604.

Yes I think we are wookie. Essendon are clearly the much bigger problem so we must first focus on and address them as a national priority here. Tis like going for the big drug baron or the weekend weed smoker. Essendon are the real problem.

Now I'm laughing at Essendon as much as the next guy. Hird needs to be sacked ignorance is no excuse for allowing this to happen, however the ironic thing is that Stephen Dank worked in the NRL for years and it looks like he was doing the wrong thing at a few clubs for years and he was never caught. Then he goes to Essendon and in his first year he is given the boot and caught by Essendon (i believe) for doing the wrong thing. Now Dank was doing the wrong thing in the NRL probably at multiple clubs for years yet Essendon the club that finally cottoned on to his wrong doings in his first year, is "the real problem". :?>
I hope you are trolling my friend because if I was a big RL fan I would be worried that a guy like Dank was able to operate for years in the NRL system, while doing the wrong thing and get away with it. How many other Danks are out their in a game where strength and athleticism are such big parts of the game?

they already scammed 3.5 million of pizza shop owner

A pizza shop owner has emerged as the mystery investor who has freed Cronulla of the bank debt that once threatened to ruin the club.
Fairfax Media can reveal a debt of about $3.5 million has been mortgaged to the superannuation fund of Paul Ellams to discharge a long-standing loan from St George Bank. The club's home ground of Remondis Stadium has been given as security.
Ellams is a Cronulla resident and Sharks supporter who recently negotiated the deal with club officials. The 60-year-old is a local businessman and developer who has run a number of companies, including a concreting business and a laundromat, which he has sold off in recent years. He is a friend of former Shimano boss John Dunphy, a local identity who considered running at the last board elections, and friends with several directors.
The identity of the mystery man has been a closely guarded by the club. However, Ellams spoke candidly about his involvement while on a fishing trip to Port Stephens. ''I've spoken to the new board about the club and which direction it's going to go,'' he said. ''I have a lot of faith in the club, and I thought we'd get rid of St George Bank and go forward from there. There were some business [discussions] with those guys, they make a few bucks, I make a few bucks, and that's as far as it went.''
Cronulla were on the brink of collapse when they owed the bank $14 million, and their future was at the mercy of the lender. However, an advance of $10 million from the long-awaited redevelopment of the Remondis Stadium precinct in August 2012 wiped almost a $1 million a year in servicing fees, as the average interest rate was about 7.5 per cent.

They'll get theirs. Essendon were only quicker because they co-operated. Cronulla didn't. But Cronulla will get their show cause notices. It's just a question of when!

Blithering Basketcase League urges for honest and welcomes the Essendon football club

The BBL urges the Essendon football club to give up fighting with asada and thus discontinue discrediting the entire AFL for its own selfish purposes. As the BBL CEO I would like to see Essendon delist all of its druggie players and formally welcome the club into the official Blithering Basketcase League.

They're drug cheats, plain and simple. The evidence is stacked. When they lose all their druggy players I'll be happy to have and add them as another basketcase.

No they haven't dickhead!

They're within their rights to object to an investigation they believe may have broken their own laws if it means the matter will be settled far quicker.

If that was true, ASADA would be going straight to infraction notices, you goose! But they didn't. So you don't know what you're talking about, and you should shut up about it!
