How is it ridiculous?
Swans play at the very very top of the AFL level .
Not our fault that's the only elite level .
So yes top level v top level .

If your sport was t so insular there might be rep levels like normal sports .
OK, let’s use a RL fans logic to rank the codes in NSW by only looking at tv ratings and in this instance comparing World Cup Socceroos ratings against the Sydney Swans cause we clearly can’t compare Swans vs Sydney FC or Western Sydney Wanderers or Waratahs apparently. But anyway let’s continue.

The highest rating AFL game in Sydney was the 1996 Grand Final Sydney vs North Melbourne where 1.018 million viewers tuned in, in Sydney alone.

Got a Socceroos, Matildas or Wallabies game that rated better in Sydney? :hmm:

Nah didn’t think so. :-$

Fuck you leaguies and soccer fruit loops, even old Roy can acknowledge the facts every so often.
the 1996 grand final between the Swans and North Melbourne, attracted 1.018m viewers in Sydney

http://www.smh.com.au/news/afl/swans-fi ... 62219.html
So again, AFL dwarfs soccer and rugby union in crowds, memberships, sponsorships and yep even tv ratings in Sydney to be ranked 2nd behind the NRL.

That’s reality people. Leaguies of course can never bring themselves to admit that and will continue to tell us we are delusional. Fair dinkum eh? Seriously... :(/

Oh and whenever a fuck head RL fan questions the AFL’s expansion, consider this:
More than 4 million fans watched AFL Grand Final between Western Bulldogs and Sydney
AAP, Herald Sun
October 2, 2016

THE bumper TV ratings for Saturday’s grand final highlight why the AFL is pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into the two northern expansion teams.

The Western Bulldogs’s fairytale win over Sydney was the fourth most-watched game in AFL history.

The combined metro and regional average of 4.089 million viewers on the Seven Network was a whopping 16 per cent increase on last year’s Hawthorn v West Coast Grand Final.

It also means the top six games are all Sydney Grand Finals.

The record remains Sydney’s 1996 Grand Final loss to North Melbourne at 4.4 million, which narrowly beat their drought-breaking 2005 win over West Coast.

The Swans’ Grand Final loss to West Coast in 2006 is third at 4.15 million. Sydney’s 2012 grand final win over Hawthorn and their ‘14 loss to the Hawks fill the next two spots.

The AFL have set up the Giants and Gold Coast as the cornerstones of a long-term strategy to strengthen the game’s presence in NSW and Queensland.

Are ok pal?? You seem a tad upset lolololol!!!!!!!

Have you got the ratings the Swans got in GF's after 1996?? From memory they got less and less with each iteration of the mess. Obviously the punters woke up lololol!!!!

AFL is 2nd in domestic comp support in NSW. Overall RU is 2nd on the back of the Wallabies. You know......bledisloe cups, world cups & Sanzaar.

Your mob and soccer can battle it out for 3rd and 4th. Good luck!!!!!!

Well folks as usual I'm 100% correct. Sydney TV ratings for AFL GF's featuring the Swans:

1996 1.018M
2005 991k
2006 765k
2012 740k
2014 551k
2016 534k

Each year dropped off to the point the last GF was watched by less than half those of 2 decades earlier.

THAT AIN'T GROWTH. THAT'S TANKING!!!!!

Hope that helps!!!!!!!

I agree AFLcrap. Participation (afl) and experiences (rl) are a load of rubbish. Registered numbers of people playing each weekend are seemingly the best to go by.

And here's a couple of interesting piece's of info I came across in my research:

More people in Melbourne watched the Storm in the 2016 GF than Sydney people watched the Swans in theirs. 609k to 534k. Impressive stuff!!!

And in the 2006 RL GF 903k Melburnians tuned in V 804k in Sydney. The game was Storm V Bronco's. Yep. More Melburnians watched the game than Sydneysiders. Now that's impressive!!!!

AFL clubs in Sydney arent 80% pokie operations.
What does it matter where the revenue comes from pal?? Unless your anti gambling. In which case every form everwhere should be banned. Not just pokies. And in any case the Swans had a club that went bust and the GWS chairman is on record saying he wants pokies for his club.

So RL clubs manage their clubs better? So what????

When it comes to football clubs, it matters. Im fairly sure you know this.

Pokies are great Im sure - while i dont agree with them, they are a legal source of revenue.

I don't agree either. Although there is a thing called free choice. People can stuff their lives in many ways, pokies is just one. I mean are they gonna ban marriage because divorce sends people broke??

And why does it matter where revenue is derived other than to split up sources in annual reports for audit purposes.

Lol
Seriously?
Revenue is revenue ....morally right or not .
Because RL wins that suddenly it's frowned upon because of pokie clibs .
How many AFL clubs are reliant on pokies to break even .
How many clubs are looking at increasing their pokie machines .

Jesus .
