Great to see footy in such good shape in QLD where even despite a bad season, the Lions still record a healthy million plus profit and crowds remain steady. You gotta give it to the Lions, they are a very well managed club. Well done Lions. =D>Lions record $1.45 million profit

A MEDIOCRE season on the field didn't dull the sound of the registers ringing at Brisbane Lions headquarters, with the club set to announce a $1.45 million profit in 2005.
The Brisbane AFL powerhouse has pulled in more than $7 million profit in the past four years and is already looking in shape to continue the trend next year, off the field at least, with membership renewals already up on last year's figures.
While down on last year's profit ($2.2m), and despite this year's abysmal AFL performance, the profit is up on their second consecutive premiership season in 2002 ($1.2m).
Club chairman Graeme Downie said one of the most encouraging aspects was the minimal dip in average attendance figures, with just a 400-seat drop from the 2004 average of 33,499 as Lions faithful rode out the stormy five-game home losing streak.
The Lions' cash-pile had to do without the windfall of a finals appearance that had bolstered annual profits since 1999.
Also encouraging, Downie said, was the fact that attendance surpassed corporate packages as the club's biggest money spinner.
