Gees the A-League has some serious problems. The Sydney derby used to be massive and always guaranteed a huge crowd.

Not now…

Yeah pretty bad. Looks like the booming NRL has sucked the life outta the other sports in 'ol Sydney town. But whats going on wif the gavver round beatup? I saw a crowd posted for the North v Brisbane game of 10,613. WTF?????? 6k less than the Aleague. Is that a mistake pal or just a joke on the AFL??

Many NRL derby get crowds similar, if not smaller than 16k the a round ball code just did.

Not sure tbh, but remember all the hype back in the day with the massive crowds for the Sydney derbies at Olympic Stadium and the Sydney Football Stadium?

Parramatta Stadium was reimagined with soccer styled standing terraces, and rebuilt based on the popularity and success of the a Wanderers back then. I never really hear about the A-League in Sydney these days, unless it’s the flares and silly fan behaviour.

all i remember in Parramatta the walk to the stadium from the wanderers.. Causing trouble and breaking chairs and letting off flares.
with 100's of cops.... so many trouble makers jumped on the bandwagon to get a kick out of it for a few years.
and once they banned all this stuff (which the club had to come down on with a Hammer, because of NSW Government

the bandwagon fell apart, and the losses mounted and WSW fell off the spotlight
it was majority men aged between 18 and 30..

the stadium push at the time, was helped by the WSW for a new stadium as there rise in soccer in the west.
which most certainly helped, but Parramatta were always the crowd pullers and real reason the stadium got up in the end.

The FFA continue to fail to capitalise on their huge participation numbers and on the hype following Australia's performances at both the mens and womens FIFA world cups. In saying that I feel like the A-league is one of those things that never recovered from covid. The big names signings from overseas haven't moved the needle like they used to and the season is far too long.

10,613 is correct, but perhaps you should look at where it was played….
