The 2025 AFL season has smashed records in a historic season on Kayo Sports!
It marked the most watched-watched AFL season ever on Kayo Sports, with massive growth in a milestone first year of the new broadcast rights deal, as fans were given more choice than ever before on the platform.
The AFL audience grew (19 per cent) for the seventh-straight season year-on-year — including fans streaming 7.37 billion minutes of footy across the season (up 12 per cent year-on-year).
“The first year of our historic AFL rights deal has set a new benchmark for AFL broadcasting. Record audiences and four consecutive years of growth show that fans are embracing the way we’re producing footy,” Fox Footy general manager Michael Neill said.
“From every match in 4K Ultra HD and ad-break free during play, to Fox Footy’s all-star commentary team, we’re shaping a new era of AFL broadcasting that connects more Australians to the game, however they choose to watch. And the excitement is only building as we head into this year’s finals.”
While Victoria remains the heartland, some of the biggest audience lifts in 2025 came in Queensland, South Australian and Western Australian clubs and markets.
Meanwhile the Adelaide Crows, Brisbane Lions and Gold Coast Suns were among the clubs with the biggest leap in audience growth year-on-year (all double figures) along with North Melbourne and Hawthorn.
Other audience highlights from the 2025 season included:
-Thursday and Friday Night Footy, which featured Fox Footy’s dedicated commentary and graphics for the first time, saw audiences lift 22 per cent and 9 per cent respectively year-on-year
-The Opening Round match between Sydney and Hawthorn was the most streamed season opener of all time
-Round 21’s Collingwood v Brisbane match was the most-streamed AFL match ever
-The most watched teams of the season were Collingwood, Carlton nd Hawthorn
-Most watched games were Collingwood’s clashes against Adelaide, Brisbane and Geelong
-Gather Round in Adelaide achieved its highest audience since inception in 2023
“We’ve seen terrific growth in the game this year, and Kayo’s uplifted numbers across the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership season have played a big part in that,” AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon said.
“It shows the appetite for footy is stronger than ever, and by reaching more fans through broadcast and digital platforms, we’re continuing to make the footy accessible to more Australians in more ways than ever before.”

I think AFL fans will start to like the FOX deal after a period of time and really warm to it..
Exclusive Saturdays in the NRL are a a winner
FOX AND KAYO were always going to record growth in season 2025 >>> due to the Exclusivity of matches across the league
and 3 to 4 games every Saturday only on FOX>
