So no points for kicking too low beneath the crossbar.

No points for missing with no side goals.

No points for hitting the uprights either.

No stopping of play and then being able to stand and take a shot with a mark. They have to try to score while the ball is in play.

They just get 1 point if they get above that crossbar.

I honestly think they would be lucky to even score a couple of points. When you look at all these facts involved in a NRL field goal. It really shows NRL field goals are truly elite in comparison to AFLs scoring system when it comes to skill.

Yep and how many are above where the crossbar would be and not in the side goals lol... ??? Not too many. Most would not even count if done in the NRL.

Be a fair few. Id say you dont watch much AFL.

Plenty of goals on the run from many different positions that go well over an imaginary cross bar. Also some amazing goals kicked from boundary line that are bounced through that are much harder than say running into an open goal from 30 metres out directly in front.

just because League has a cross bar it doesnt mean the AFL needs to also!
heck why not change the oval to a rectangular field and the player when kicking for goal has to use a plastic cup for the ball
when the team is trying to get the ball up there end of the field to score why not restrict them to hand ball side ways also

Some tremendous suggestions there Wacko. I'd go with a rectangular field. And make 'em pass backwards for sure - much more skill in that. I also reckon cut the player number down to 13. Less congestion on the field.

Also have an offside rule. And make it a passing game rather than a kicking game. Make a major score by placing the ball over a line after a passing movement. Then let 'em kick goals for penalties and try conversions only.

Really?? The vast majority I see that would be over the crossbar are usually scored from a mark with no pressure of being tackled.

What do you think AFL scores would be with crossbars and no points for misses or hitting the upright?

It actually is because you are not allowed to drop it constantly like they do in AFL.

league they constantly fumble it from short sideways throws! un opposed. the balls are different also AFL uses a leather bal and League a rubber larger ball,the AFL players try and mark passes from 50 plus meter kicks with that wet leather ball to a team mate, that usually has an opponent also contesting for the ball!
the are 2 completely different games
League isnt even the skilled version of the 2 rugbys for starters

I was thinking - with a feild goal it would be even quicker ?

Then was thinking - re: the cross bar - in relation to this thread - as to if you did have it in AFL - would you have it being the most points for under the bar - would that be the hardest - thus more ponint - like Gaelic Football (although they have an unmarked goal keeper (cause it’s, like a different game and all). - or over the bar - like Union and rugby league ?

Anyway - I guess there’s a reason they have different rules and different requirements - cause, like, they’re different games and all. Maybe in AFL they could have different zones on the ground where you get more for outside 50 (trailed in preseason games years ago, but maybe also wedges - a goal from the bounds 30 out? Or, a set goal is less value than a goal on the run ?? Anyway - I’m bored - and should go to bed - wish me luck - climbing Mount Ijen this weekend sometime - have a Google - not bothering doing the overnight trek to see sunrise or blue fire - but will go up about 6 am to have a look around.
