I'm just Interested to know who believes the Hobart stadium will be approved by the higher and Lower houses in October when a final decision is made?..... I would also like to know if it's knocked back do people believe the deal will get renegotiated or will it mean the end for the Devils.

It’ll be approved. What politician would want to be singled out for killing the Tassie dream to join the AFL.
BTW, welcome Devils

Actually, really looking forward to going down for first away Swans game in Tassie at the new stadium.
New stadium will be great for the tourism dollars and economy.

a responsible one , who has the best interests of their constituents & won't bow to the disgusting intimidation & bullying by AFL house
Tasmanians deserve a team in 2028 & the stadium will come when it can be afforded .. & if thats 10 years later ... so be it
derpball house's standover tactics are , extortion ... blackmail

yeah i mean how dare the AFL hold the Tasmanian Government to its own proposal.
The AFL didnt want to give them a team, didnt believe it would be economically viable. TasGov had to throw stuff at them to get it done.
Its no different to what Vlandys is trying to pull to get WA over the line.

The deal is no stadium no team,so what you are saying sounds like you believe a renegotiation will take place. I'm fully open to anything as long as we don't lose our team, but im just not sure a renegotiation would happen.

I agree that both the Team and the Stadium will go ahead. The team on schedule, the stadium maybe not.
And no Tasmanian Government or Opposition party would risk being seen as the ones that destroyed a long term dream.
And neither will the AFL dump the deal, they would loose a lot of support if they did, even in the short term.

Being a Tasmanian I'm well aware of how anti groups seem to always stop big development in this state and they have made it very clear they are going to try everything to get it stopped. They believe they will certainly win the battle and they will get the stadium scrapped so it will not surprise me one bit if the stadium doesn't get built. It will then come down to whether the AFL agrees to renegotiate or we will have to wave good bye to our team. I believe in this situation the AFL will agree to a renegotiation because it would be a bad look for them otherwise.

I'm a big supporter, but let's be realistical test cricket will only be rare considering competition from the 5 big cities and it will only likely be low drawing nations playing here. I believe we will get the odd concert but it's not going to be significant in my opinion because it's just too expensive bringing the gigs across the Bass Strait unfortunately.

More concerts and test cricket.
Australia only play 5 tests a summer
and concerts, Generally the big artists go to the Big cities only.
Hobart will be last on there list
New Stadium will get BIG BASH and 11 AFL games per year. (with a dozen other little events)

Hobart has still had a lot of big artists over the years and with a stadium with a roof it definitely will make it more likely but I think we won't get any more than a couple a year. The Devils will only be playing 7 games a season there because they have already committed to play 4 up in Launceston and the business plan relies on 44 events a year so I guess we will have to see on that.

true point, i forgot that they were only going to split games, that is even worse than i thought.
them 44 Events is false. that is best outcome on all levels (just made up rubbish)
BISH BASH only play 5 home matches.
AFL side 7 home matches.
where are these extra 32 events coming from...

Like I said, while I agree we won't get many concerts, I think we will get a few especially considering it will have a roof which one promoter has said will be huge when it come's to attracting concerts. I think many other likely events have been talked about like Monster trucks and similar events,A league,Nrl and Dark Mofo events to name a few but obviously much of that is not guaranteed.
The stadium definitely will need to attract more content than you have mentioned otherwise it won't be worth building so I suppose they are going to have their work cut out for them when it comes to attracting events.
This is one of the things being looked at through the Projects of State Significance so as you know the stadium will not be recommended for approval if the financials don't stack up.

No new stadium would be a disappointing outcome and look for the new club.
Bellerive Oval is not up to standard to match the excitement of the Devils entering the big league.
What would a renegotiation look like and what would be the outcome? I thought I heard some loud locals don’t like idea of Bellerive Oval being upgraded either?
