AFL Opening Round - 2025

Big Opening Round this week in the northern states. Finally the footy is back and I can’t wait to be back at the SCG on Friday night.
A real worry though about Thursday and Saturday nights in Brisbane and the Gold Coast with a cyclone and heavy rain/floods predicted.
Big crowds expected in Sydney with hopefully clear skies forecast for Friday night and Sunday arvo.
The young silky Hawks have me nervous about my Swans, especially after the loss of our gun rising star Errol Gulden last weekend. We have other injury concerns too. Fingers crossed we do better than our last game to end season 2024. The less said about that traumatic day for us Swans fans the better.
Predictions for me as follows. Thoughts?
Brisbane vs Geelong
Sydneyvs Hawthorn
Gold Coast vs
Essendon
Greater Western Sydney vs
Collingwood

The NRL have announced Souths will now host the Dolphins at Commbank Stadium on Friday night, to avoid a clash with the AFL and big crowd for the Swans vs Hawks at Moore Park. lol

Oh really?
Looks free to me. My god you’re stupid.

Like I said, NRL clearly fearful of an another embarrassing clash with the AFL at Moore Park.
South Sydney hosting the no fans in Sydney Dolphins. Piss off out west to Parramatta the NRL says.

Ah because South Sydney is their traditional home, not Parramatta in Western Sydney.
Souths have for years, been wanting to return to their traditional home closer to their training bases in Redfern and Hillsdale. Parramatta is not their home lol
Rabbitohs CEO reveals club wants to move to Allianz should NSW Government not upgrade Accor
By Sam Kosack
https://www.sen.com.au/news/2025/01/28/ ... government
South Sydney CEO Blake Solly has revealed the Rabbitohs would be interested in a move to Allianz Stadium should the NSW Government not upgrade Accor Stadium.
Can only imagine the embarrassing crowd images if Souths actually played at their home stadium they dislike so much at Accor Stadium.
Fact is Allianz Stadium is in Souths traditional home and it was free but the NRL said no, you’re playing in Parramatta at another teams home ground. Spin it however you like, it’s embarrassing and all to save face in not going up against the AFL in Moore Park on Friday night, because we all know how well that worked out last time they tried that.
