but when you'll be at home again !
The stupid fumbling wankers are making the same embarrassing mistake as last year , scheduling games in Sydney & QLD , announced as an attempt to take advantage of the NRL's opening round games in Las Vegas , but... just like last year , the NRL will play the remainder of their opening round at the same time in the same places.
I asked last year & not one fumbler could answer , why would anyone in NSW & QLD who isn't a derpball fan watch the fumbling & bumbling in round zero ?
There will be A league games , Super Rugby games & ofc , the big dog is in town too .. the NRL
pointless
just a lame reaction to the NRL & its elevated presence & the pressure AFL is feeling to do something in response.
Now watch the NRL drop a big Melb Storm game at AAMI when the fumbles & bumbles is up this way
Melbourne Storm V Brisbane Broncos
AAMI Park
8pm
Fri 7th March 2025
we can play games too , & we're better at it

Just read the article. I got no problem then playing a round dedicated to nsw and qld - no harm can come from it I think. I think last year it was a mistake to premise it on the nrl being out of town - just stupid and not needed at all. I see no mention of that this time which is good. I’d still like to see Sunday having a game in the rest of the country - even if just one game - Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, and maybe even Darwin and have the nsw and qld games over the three days from Thursday to Saturday.
I think the lions will be a cracker and see all seats allocated - the suns game should be interesting with plenty of local supporters and Essendon supporters (both local and fly in).
But agree- all that code war stuff from last year was stupid. No one really cares anymore.

It was universally panned last season by fumblers as being unnecessary, the disruption it causes to the schedule is huge & the benefits minimal.
why can't they have a round dedicated to NSW & QLD during the bye rounds in the middle of the year , it would have exactly the same effect which is next to zero anyway.
The concept to draw attention to the vicdumbian game in NSW & QLD with this round when it is scheduled ... fails... mainly due to no clean air & the attention in these places as a result of the hype for the start of the season in the NRL at exactly the same time
a massive
C- for the fumbling game ... again

was it even a success last time ??
AFL get all the Big clubs to travel north during Holiday Time in Victoria.
and play the 1st game bringing 10,000 Supporters with them
Ratings were down crowds remained the same when they usually played mid season
with massive Pull the Victorians have.

I think a lot in Victoria, south Aus, west Aus were not happy with it - moreso that no game was played there - that’s the criticism I often heard. I really thought they’d make Sunday a game in each of these states. There has been the usual coverage on the media I have heard around the draw and week 0 (stupid name) but nothing more than that.
And it’s not only those states - if you’re a supporter I’d imagine if you club isn’t playing it’s kind of a false start.

it is honestly so stupid, why not just do Round 1 and have all teams play and have the big games in the Northern states first to highlight the round if they must... and play rest of teams on saturday and sunday (i can already see it, they will get good crowds and the media will pump it up (Victorian Media)

Firstly - saying Victorian media assumes Aussie rules is largely confined to Victoria - which it clearly isn’t. Apart from that, I saw lots of critiques of the idea - with no game outside nsw and qld at all - the AFL is always going to try and find the positives I guess so will report as such - and lazy journalists will just print or regurgitate the press release (I watch too much Mefi Watch lol).
Brisbane were always going to get a large crowd - regardless - if not another “all allocated seats exhausted” thing. Collingwood will fill GWS stadium - which is all smoke and mirrors in response to how heavily they are struggling - really think if they wanted to boost the gws - they should play Sydney in that game - make it the only fans on Friday night - Sydney will also get a good crowd I suspect which is par for the course - although I suspect some disillusioned hanger ons may show their disappointment.
Personally - I’d do a gather round type thing and play all opening round games in Perth. And rotate yearly opening round across Perth, South Australia, NSW and qld - and Tassie when they come in.

i was stating Victorian Media as they are generally more one eyed than say WA Media.
But good points above, I think the Sydney Derby Would be the Ideal Game to Play in ZERO ROUND lol
