AFL Season so far

Post by Fred »

Looking at the ladder it seems to be one of the closet seasons by far. North are clearly out of it and a basketcase - and Richmond are riddled with injuries. West Coast beating Melbourne was a turn up and you'd think they will win a few more going forwards - particularly at home. The 8 is usually pretty set apart from 7th or 8th which can change however this year I think several team could be slipping into those spots - and many more "upsets" to come. It's a good season so far - even Richmond beat the Swans early in year. Be interesting how this plays out. And how did Hawthorn lose that game!!!! Terrible on their part - I say they went totally defensive. - who moves a five goal forward to the back line in the last quarter!!! And to show how close it is on the ladder, Port now 4th - however if they had of lost would have been out of the 8.

seems the true litmus ... TV ratings ... isn't in line with your view its a good season
despite engineering the draw , doing it in blocks & setting up big TV games with sides higher on the ladder , certainly for the Victorian market

ratings are tanking ... badly

the fumbles n bumbles season is a dud , its now official

I, and millions of other I suspect, are enjoying it. Ratings is just one metric, albeit a significant one, but so to are crowds which have been extremely good in the main.

most attendees for the fumbling game are cultists , they are no marker for the state of the health of your game. Brain washed to think every fumble , every miss is just amazing :hmm:

And your players taking drugs is fine
And your governing body telling them those players are injured .. when they're not... is just dandy too ...

they're sheep

the next level of support 15 times bigger then game day attendance & worth a lot more $$ wise , is much more discerning
And they're not buying the crap being served up in 2024

Oh well - as long as I can watch it, all is good. That means, the game is not in danger of going off the air, I can afford to buy Fox - which is essential if you are an AFL follower in QLD (and suspect NSW) so I can watch my Pies each week and not have them show the Suns or Lions instead when they overlap, and sponsors keep paying top dollar to keep the game going and pay the players and administrators - and crowds keep going each week to create that awesome atmosphere (I think crowds bring in substantial revenue by the way) - then I am happy. I do not really care if others do or do not watch - or like for that matter - as long as I can watch the game I want to watch, Same goes for when I want to watch the Storm - although haven't seen too many games this year on TV unfortunately.

so anyway - back to the topic - for me - and many commentators, we ar ehaving a cracking season this year in the AFL with close games, underdogs getting up, and some brilliant highlights - watched Harley Reid running around yesterday and the guy is a deadset superstar. Then to see Naicos and Rankin running around the day before in a 4 point result - I really enjoyed it. For me - it's been a cracker of a year with so many teams still in contention, and many weaker teams building and upsetting the sides higher up on the ladder.

I don’t know man - I just came here to comment about how I’m enjoying the session thus far, that it is much more even than it has been in many years and I’m enjoying my footy - I didn’t want to delve into any code wars type thing amd hence I posted in the Australian Rules forum for that reason. I wasn’t saying it was better than the NRL or worse than it, I don’t really care, was just saying that I’m enjoying the season so far. I”m just enjoying life with footy one of my personal pleasures, that’s all. Can’t I just have that without all the hyperbol. It’s just a game of footy. Let the simple things be simple and if someone gets joy from something then leave them to it hey. Life’s too short. I get it’s your thing this whole which is better and that’s cool - but maybe take it that if someone posts (or even just if I post) in the AFL forum, particularly about simply enjoying the season so far, that they really don’t won’t to get into a dick measuring contest- otherwise they would post in the fight club …. That’s all -

There’s nothing to disagree or agree with though - it’s my opinion of the season thus far - that’s all. Anyway.

you asked for other opinions though , i gave mine & based it on dire data pointing to falling interest in the fumbling game in important metrics & you dismissed that & refused to discuss it
