almost sold out
still months away , with tickets only going on sale on Tuesday
theres only a few hundred left
wow
the first time a football game has sold the venue out since the 2001 Lions Rugby tour ( 37,473) & that was the first time since 1954 when nearly 50,000 watched Australia play Great Britan in Rugby League
only the 3rd sellout for football in 69 years
wow

if the Lions good form continues they should sell out the Gabba come finals time !
AFL is still growing in Brisbane
Let the Dolphins and Broncos cannabalise each others fan base.

So you need a Finals game to sell out ..lol the AFLOL sellout …1000s under capacity .
& going by crowds there’s no cannabalising going on .
Just wishful thinking by a fumblefan who sees the Aflol getting pushed into the background by the Phins success .

A few of things:
Dolphins have done far better than I expected in their first year.
A better scheduling would have put their average attendance up,
Bit of a shame that the gabba is the ground for arguably their biggest game for the year, so far.
They are not, yet, already owning the lions, as the lions average attendance this year is, not by much, ahead of the dolphins.
I expect the average gap to increase for the lions…not by a lot…but the lions will have a higher average than the dolphins this year.
The Broncos are doing pretty good as well.

much delusion
they've past them like they were standing still
if the phins hadn't paid a game at Redcliffe & another on a thursday night , they'd be ahead on Average
The Broncs have played a couple of Thursday games too
they'd be even further ahead otherwise
more then 60K will watch their 2 games in Brisb this week including one on Thurs
just 54K watched the 2nd placed wions on FTA in Brisbane up against .... just... 54K
the Phins & Broncos would get 4 times that for a game on 9 & add the veiwers on PTV ..& we have 2 teams far more popular then the paddle pop wions
54K is embarrassing... just appalling
wions
3rd in Brisvegas , a distant 3rd
ahead of the reds & roar tho ... so yaaaayyyyy well done

victorian rules is still just a niche sport in Qld , same as most of NSW bar the thin strip north of the murray
there is little broad appeal past ex pats & their off spring
nothing is changing

Australian rules has been in in Qld for over a hundred years.
It's growing, not as fast as it shoud but it is still slowly growing.
Dolphins and broncos won't change the growth chart.
Afl is here to stay in Qld for the long term.
30 years ago very small footprint, now two professional teams supported by true locals.

a tiny sport back in 1987
not much bigger in 2023
in 2059 ?
marginally bigger ... maybe
but miniscule compared to league & the NRL
miniscule

So how did the NRL go with the apparent sellout Gabba for Broncos vs Dolphins? Close to a capacity crowd? Nup, thousands of empty seats.
But it’s an oval configuration I hear the leaguies say.

Brisbane Lions vs Richmond Tigers 29/6/23 (Thats a Thursday and not a derby) 30,022.
Brisbane Broncos vs Dolphins 1/7/23 (Thats a Saturday and a derby) 30,606.
So on a typically poor (according to truthbomber) attendance night and against the derby that everyone in Brisbane has been lining up for, and on the best attending night, on the same ground NRL, gets 600 more attendees.
Yep thats definite evidence that the Lions and the AFL are standing still or even, heaven forbid, going backwards.
If this trend continues the Lions won't be a clear second, they will be closely threatening no 1 position.
