the way Inflation is going and how expensive everything has become the pass 12 months.

if you look at everything from cars to groceries to electronics to materials to energy..
everything has risen quite sharply... (which is obvious)

It makes the NRL deal look cheap as (negotiated in 2020)
and AFL deal seem about right on the money.

for negotiations going forward

Maybe the AFL could bring in the new idea of State of Origin ............

NRL never claim to have Origin First..

Victoria Media are all over it, like it is Ground Breaking Idea

Anyone find this Interesting....

AFL announces TV Deal in the mist of TAS Expansion is going to happen.. (announces Record)
and 1 week after announcement (Gather Round is added to fixture) (extra round)

we are now in MAY with Tasmania confirmed as 19th team

Now there were reports a 19 team or 20 team Competition was included in AFL DEAL

I also recan Gather Round was also included in tv Deal.
so that is an extra 9 rounds added to deal.
plus potentially 1 or 2 extra teams..

I think you meant 9 extra games, not rounds.
The extra team will not do much unless they add a couple of extra rounds to add to the games played for each team because of the bye every round. And that is why a 20th team will not be far behind the 19th.

Maybe the gather round was included in the negotiations, maybe not.
I doubt whether the 19th team came into play because they will not add any extra games per round. The 20th side, that will be a whole new ball game.

yes sorry 9 games added per year to deal which over a term of 7 years = (is what i was ment to say) :)

yeah 19th Team in Tasmania will not that much extra overall..
i am quite confident Gather Round was included into Tv Deal negotiations
as was right exact time of announcement )and no sums have come out)

there was print news on negotiations that networks are bidding for a 19th or 20 team comp as well.
all is uncertain at this point of time.

I recan overall negotiations included
Gather Round
19th Team
AFLW

Its not going to get more money this time around but I dont think Gather Round was in the negotiation even though it was announced almost at the same time. Its not mentioned anywhere in the announced rights information anywhere nor is an additional round, but it does note that while a 19th team wasnt specifically included it did "contemplate it" - it was far from certain it was going to happen at all.

AFLW was always part of the deal.
