The $642M per year is a lie. The actual amount is $550M. Still a good amount so congratulations to Gilty and all the fumble followers here for that. (Go crazy with ya rattles and red cordials kids lololol).
But Remember this kicks in in 2025. Roy confirms the NRL currently gets $450M a year. Almost on parity in aggregate and well in front per hour of content in the current deal. For 3 years RL will be behind by $100M. But they will start re-negotiating early and recover this amount well before the fumbling deal finishes in 2031.
Bottom line: The AFL has done better than expected. But due to the long 9 year term of the current AFL deals the NRL has plenty of room to make up the difference and pull ahead.
Thanks to Roy for his expert analysis. I now expect amateur mug punter fumbling fans here will go nuts. I wait in anticipation lololololol!!!!!!!!

Poor 'ol Hunter has been on the fumbling kool aid for years. He doesn't know anyone on the inside of the negotiations. Whereas Roy of course knows everyone. When the new deal starts the AFL will get $100M more in cash per year. Once the NRL gets a new deal they will easily catch up in the last 4/5 years of the fumbling deal.
Trust in Roy!!!!

Well much like the Suns and the Giants they would have to come in within a year of each other or the other 18 clubs will say "No". The only place I can see it coming from is Canberra and as it is part of the Giant umbrella right now that's not going to happen any time soon. It certainly won't be the NT.Quolls2019 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 9:45 pmWell they can’t have a 20th team without a 19th…and they will have both…the 20th will follow, a question of where and when?TLPG wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 8:31 pmThey shouldn't. Like I said, it nearly destroyed the game before. They are NOT to go down that path. It would be suicide.Quolls2019 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 2:11 pm
Not a chance of a relocation…..none
And tassie were fairly recently considering rejoining the vfl as a stepping stone to the big league.
It will be relocation - or no Tassie team in the AFL. The only other chance would be a 20th license.
if i were the AFLTLPG wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 11:29 amWell much like the Suns and the Giants they would have to come in within a year of each other or the other 18 clubs will say "No". What would an old RL hack like Roy know? I’ll trust Caro thanks. It’s an extraordinary amount of $$$ for the AFL with bids from every major network, that you Tezza suggested where all myth. Well done… you look really silly now. And where is that truthbomber hiding since this deal was announced? lolTerry wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 9:14 amBeaussie wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 10:08 pmTerry wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 4:30 pmThe doyen of sports writers, Roy Masters, has now spoken.
