This how stupid it all is. If a team is up 2-0 in the series they still have a meaningless game 3.

Imagine that happening in any other sport on earth. It just shows how desperate Rugby League is for Origin because without it the sport would be broke.
Happens in cricket quite often

You Rugby League guys are just jealous that the Giants home average is about the same as the Bulldogs in the NRL :)
The basket case last placed NRL bulldogs have sold out Belmore yesterday for tomorrows game petey you fumbling moron   :(/ :(/
19000 to jam pack themselves into that little ground & would have easily got 22 or 23K if Belmore held that many , will look amazing on TV.

Any other Sydney NRL teams you want to compare those crowd fudging plastic scum midgets with Petey ?

Clubs who generally provide most the players to Origin Team's generally make finals and generally go close to winning..

Fans of rugby League do not put State of Origin in front of there club (they just have another team to cheer for which the state they were born in (this brings passion)

Players get to play with the best, which actually helps them at club level.

that is why clubs are happy when they get selected.

Yes injuries do happen..
but wow how many injuries happen at training

AFL needed 2 Big Strong States to make Origin Work.
At the time

Victoria was huge and Adelaide and Perth were tiny

You are forgetting that Origin was working - Adelaide and W.A had plenty of wins. Adelaide particularly had some good teams. The other thing, like QLD - W.A and S.A had/have a big chip on their shoulder about Victorian football - a bit akin to Queenslanders toward NSW - little brother to big brother type stuff - and that fuelled the fire to "kick a vic" so to speak. As a S.A you would know exactly what I mean. For mine - it was simply the stars were not playing, the home and away - or premiership had higher value - simple as that. For whatever the reason, that was the case in the end. I remember clearly people being so annoyed if a player was picked and got injured - possibly costing your team a premiership. I still get annoyed when Storm have players out for SoO and lose a game - solely because of this. But the AFL, if they could, would dearly love SoO to be a thing again like it is in the ARL.

They do where I work - but depends on the person I guess.

Training has a purpose - and is necessary - SoO mid season isn't. I would play it out of season - after GF - it would still be huge as has been shown.
