Channel 7 and Fox are confident deal will be done before end of month..

channel 7 will get streaming to there big matches per week. (with fox agreeing)

FOX look to have up to 5 exclusive games per week.. (WOW) on par with NRL)

it states FOX will be paying more than previous deal,
where as nothing on CH7 >>>> which look to get less content.

Big changes coming
bye bye exclusive FTA games outside vicderpia
NSW & QLD teams to suffer ... badly
backlash to be huge

wow
good job fumblers
No bye bye here either - for one simple reason. It goes against the anti siphoning laws.

FTA is NSW and QLD for the AFL is compulsory under said laws. Ditto the other states and territories.

Only IF a FTA broadcaster wants them. I suspect the compromise between Seven and Fox for streaming changes that a little.

go & try to turn on a TV you ignoramus

anti siphoning doesn't guarantee individual teams from NSW & QLD be on FTA , only that NSW & QLD gets some fumbling & bumbling .. thats any teams playing on FTA

of the 88 games involving these 4 clubs that used to all be on FTA in NSW & QLD
i'd say 66 will now go behind a paywall ( same for SA & WA)

they'll be a huge negative reaction from fans in WA & SA
they'll flip

& the derps n misses ... will fall off a cliff in NSW & QLD in the next 5 years
all for the almighty $$$$
the 2 development states sold up the river
wow
just wow

That may have been the intention, but in practise it does not work that way.
The AFL and the broadcasters, fta and ptv , negotiate outcomes that satisfy both the law and their own requirements (mostly).
The current broadcasting agreement, broadcasting what where, will undoubtably change for new rights.
The players are not just negotiating about money, but also what is included and not included in their offer.
The 10/Paramount offer maybe a bit more flexible than the others.
Granted there could also be negatives for the AFL by moving away from Foxtel and 7.

You are limiting it to the four clubs north of the Barassi Line for convenience - and intentional misinformation. The rules apply to ALL AFL games, not just specific clubs. They show games on FTA in NSW and QLD that don't involve any of those clubs - purely because it's the only game on in that timeslot. THAT is the guarantee the siphoning laws give. Our great game of Aussie rules is in no danger from this. The only viable threat right now is the weather which has played havoc with the grass roots on the East Coast this season.

Those are the facts. Ignore at your peril.

The key in the deal has to be getting as many games onto FTA as possible and on the main channel, as the intention of the laws are. Going underneath it on technicalities has to be stopped and the AFL should be jumping on the FTA channels - especially in NSW and QLD - over that. Seven have done the right thing in SA and WA, but they are doing the wrong thing big time in the Northern states. One has a job to do to promote, and that is impossible for Seven if they stick it on 7mate. They have to be told - main channel or we go with another FTA provider. If the AFL won't tell them that, the federal government and the ACMA should do so.

And if there isnt one? Note that most games in WA are shown on 7mate as well...

I tabled these stats previously.
Most games are not on FTA, the anti siphoning laws can be manipulated quite easily by deals between the AFL, FTA station and the pay/streaming station as can be seen below.

That's why the AFL should jump on them - or the government and the ACMA. It's wrong.
