Look out, Channel 9 and Stan now interested. Could be a very big pay day for the AFL.

From the 4.30 min mark in video below. A record TV deal expected.

I sure as hell hope this does not happen - going to a streaming platform will be a major backward move. Need to keep most of the product on FTA in my opinion.

Which is why paramount is a danger/blessing.
For the football states they may agree and pay for 5/4 fta to boost up 10 and still get more subscription for plus.
I’m still hearing ESPN via Disney is interested.
So 9/stan, 7/foxtel, 10/Paramount, ?/disney. And another player…apparently. Foxtel does not have to be aligned with 7.
Big money is forthcoming.
NRL may have gone to early.
There are lies, damn lies and then there are ratings.

for what ?
the aflol has no new content & is being beaten to death by the NRL for viewers

Thursdays regularly
no more guarantee of non vic teams on fta ( watch the code die in NSW & QLD in 10 years  ) & an exclusive numb of STV games
twlight GF ..
the above & you might get a tiny increase
416 to 435-440 mill max

The NRL will introduce an 18th team & 9th game in 2026.. 25 extra games all going to STV & their deal off the back of continued growth in ratings will go up to 455 -460 mill

wow

More money because there are several interested parties bidding for the rights, several, including the NRL aligned 9.
Thats why.
And when the AFL expands…and it will, even if Tassy doesn't get in, which after a bit of argy bargy, I think they will, it will be more valuable.
And as for the code dying in NSW and Qld, in 10 years? Another delusion of yours.
It will grow.

Which is around what Rugby League Got with the 17th team added.

I also read reports, the bidders are to put proposals in for a 18th team League and also a 19th and 20th league

Truthbomber was meaning i think..

if NSW AND QLD do not get as much FTA coverage of the game, the game will decrease.
remembering Each of the 4 teams receive 23 games per year on FTA That is around 100 FTA games per year under current deal.

this is what hurts Melbourne Storm with the inconsistent of FTA coverage into Victoria.
they are randomly put on FTA every few weeks.

With AFL I think if 7 gets the FTA will remain. If Paramount/10 get it FTA may increase. With the others…could go either way.
There is also a chance that the rights could be shared between non aligned providers.

But.. is there fumbler ?
heres a little lesson on how these things go down so for once in your life pay attention because we leaguies have seen all this crap before

just because broadcasters " say" they're interested in something someone else has doesn't mean they really are ,
they will say they are in an attempt to put pressure on their competitors to pay overs for rights under the threat they'll lose them if they don't.

Anyone thinking channel 9 is interested in the aflol's rights when they have already committed to the NRL til the end of 2027 is a bafoon & its a perfect example of the above
Ch 9 can't show the aflol in prime time in NSW/ACT or QLD because they have the NRL on instead. So they cannot maximise their investment so the cost can't be justfied. Its a furphy.
The same stunt 7 pulled on 9 with the NRL rights ... " oh , we want em " they said , but in reality they never did & 9 knew this simply because of 7's position. It would be a stupid move.

the streaming companies & their partners want their competitor foxtel to pay overs for the aflol as well , but its just posturing & there is no real interest , Paramount USA have already said they want to cut costs by up to 250 mill pa across all operations , so fat chance there will be any real bid coming from them or anyone else.

Ch 7 have said they won't pay much more then they do now
Foxtel the same

big increase coming ?
don't think so fumbler , don't think so
Emojis are your friend.
reality isn't yours

I think you'll find splitting your rights between multiple FTA & STV companies will hamper the overall result.
Foxtel won't be interested in some of the rights having to share them with a competitor & Ch 7 will be of a similar opinion.
The dual broadcast arrangement for the aflol between 7/10 never worked , foxtel sharing with Disney or Amazon ?.. please

nah
they'll get the 2 broadcasters they have now & the bun fight about exclusive games for foxtel & the FTA games into non vicderpian markets will be heated
someone won't be paying much , who will be determined by who wins the above argument.
