Don’t agree, most AFL games are now behind a paywall with foxtel. I think that any new deal would most likely have a near even number of games on FTA, but the big games on stream that may be decided say 4 weeks in advance,
the games at current are partially behind a paywall..

you can still see the game in some states just not all and vice versa with other games.

they are not 100% exclusive behind paywall like NRL on FOX (with 5 exclusives per week)
I didn't say “all”.
you literally said "most games are now behind a paywall..
but anyways the deals between codes are totally different..

NRL TO FOX is more valuable than AFL is to FOX> the numbers tell the story..

I do not see FOX going overs this time just to hope that they will increase subscribers...
in fact since they did.. NRL numbers increased and AFL went down.

I expect the AFl /media /propaganda Dept to be working overtime on this up coming deal .

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the initial media release say the AFL sent correspondence to The streaming companies to see if they were interested .
That soon becomes as usual Twisted to the streaming companies are very interested .
Lol

I would think if the NRL rights were up for discussion they’d be looking at that too. I think the already high level of pay TV in the two NRL cities may be a factor. I do suspect that needing to hang onto this should see fox offering more - however they may go for exclusivity with a few games syphonec off to net rule requirements.

Streaming were circling and interested, just not interested in paying the big bucks FOX have installed.

Streaming again came back into the Picture late last year for the FTA deal
but again NRL stuck with ch9
FTA presence and FOX are just big to leave at this moment in time for the codes..

remembering FOX have invested heavily in AFL AND NRL

.. yes we are ..
that became , big bucks on offer & streaming companies knocking down the door to sign up .. from the kings of spin

then , a senior exec from these streaming companies will ask how much
the awful will tell them

the streaming company execs will do this

Most or all it does not matter... your games are partially behind a paywall and majority have FTA access into multiple states.

How many games were free to air in each state last weekend?
In Victoria, the AFL’s biggest market, out of 9 games 4 were on three to air, 5 were behind a paywall.

Despite some posters saying its all a pipe dream, i believe the next AFL rights will be hotly contested, will be a record price and if one particular consortium gets in, hopefully more FTA games.

every non vicderpian state got both of their teams on FTA , every single one of them.
If you were a fan of those 8 sides why would you buy an STV subscription ?

thats right
you wouldn't & foxtel know this & any other pay for view carrier would as well
They'll insist on an NRL style broadcast deal, a certain numb of exclusive games regardless of who's playing in them. This lessens the price of the FTA arrangement
talk about rod for your back eh

the NRL only got an increase on its new deal because of extra /new content for its partners
the awful has nothing to offer its partners then it already has for the 2nd deal in a row, it pulled an increase off the back of spin & hyperbole & I don't think TV execs will swallow the crap again

what have you got for us Gil ?

well
we've got 10 Melb suburbs & 8 sides in every state including the midgets & thuns :thumbleft: , we reckon thats worth a huge increase

but Gil, you've had that since 2012 :hmm:

true points...

FOX were the losers in the last AFL deal.. paying enormous amount, where there other Brand "NRL" at the same value.. was a better asset in return..

i will come back to my points like you have mentioned.. FOX will want exclusives similar to the NRL>> to pay anything $$$ like they have.

Sure, permanent Thursday night matches, possible second friday matches, second being Fox exlusive - already trialed this year - and greater exclusivity over matches in Perth and WA arent a thing at all. lol. you know or the likelihood of Tassie entering for that deal.

Theres considerable flexibility in the AFLs schedules and broadcast arrangements to work with.
