i am not sure if this is correct..
are we saying Contra is worth $300mill plus
and Telstra $200mill plus to the overall deal.
Currently contra is about 20m a year. I can see it hitting 40m a year under the new deal for sure.

yeah ok.

Contra is looking at around 75mill plus a year.
I wonder how much the Telstra component is
Again. The AFL said the cash component of the deal was "north of 4 billion". Contra wont be 75m a year.

Yeah, but we're talking about Gilty and fumblehouse bummy. Blatant lying is their stock in trade. And you and your bubble mates pat each other on the head and nod in unison.

You know its true.
And those who actually pay attention know that's false, not true. Let's see some proof of that claim.

Telstra historically have paid 50m per year.

Some serious butt hurt from many of the NRL folks here -trying to find something to hang their hat on, trying to find something negative about the TV deal lol.

And all the bluster and all the comments that have been shown to be wrong. Can someone make a list of all of these to go in one post - would be interesting. I think the big thing is 9 offering 500 million when it was apparently all Gil lying about possible suiters lol.

I love how the AFL and supporters just sit back and let the facts do the talking with the NRL posters here blowing and huffing about this, that and the other - then BANG!!!! Record Broadcast rights deal. When rubber hits the road, all the talk about this that or the other is just that - talk. AFL just has to sit back and go "yeah yeah yeah" then shut the blow hards up with a record broadcast rights deal. And boy didn't they shut up on here lol.

Has anyone read the article by Phil Gould claiming that his employers (C9) took no part in the bidding. The article was behind a paywall so I've only read the headlines.

Has Gil been caught out again?
Australia's number 1 sport RUGBY LEAGUE. Preferred by more Australians than any other

No.

My bet is that Sydney 9 execs didn't know what Melbourne 9 execs were up to. Melbourne execs knew the AFL was ratings for 9 - and for WIN in regional Vic on top of it.

It’s amazing - Every commentator I’ve heard, afl, nrl or neutral have said how great the deal was and how this looks poor for the nrl - accept here of course where most nrl posters see it as a personal affront that AFL does so well. Of course, the deal flies in the face of all their comments about how nrl is catching or overtaking the afl - but know when you’re beaten guys. You can still love your sport - makes no difference to that, but the fight has been fought (was there ever any arguement) and won.

freddy boy,

the AFL deal is a pretty good deal, i myself just like to put the deal into perspective
i like a breakdown of what is what..

I also take into calculation that the AFL deal is to 2031

(you just do not look at a number and go "oh yeah what a winner and move on"
there is always more to the story.

PS i predict the NRL to get close to $700mill in its next deal per annum..

That's a big call, Leeroy, given that the AFL have the extra game to play with.

We will see. Happy to stand corrected - but if I had to bet I wouldn't be backing a team up and running by 2028. Maybe a team may be in the pipelines but not on the field.

Somehow I don't think they'll have that 18th club by then.

that is a hard question ( i will say no)

I think his duties are now for the NRL

TV RIGHTS Deal in 2-3 years.
NRL Team 18
NRL Infrastructure (stadiums and clubs)

Once this occurs he will step down
(he want to leave on a high note.)
