Maybe 2 sides in at once….maybe they’re looking further afield than brisbane….

I actually think it's more likely they'll fall back to 16 clubs to be honest. The NRL has the same problem in Sydney that the AFL has in Melbourne. Too many clubs.

yep that is a good question, it is a money spinner for the NRL "magic round"
There a rumours who ever gets the wooden spoon previous year, misses out.

The other Brisbane Bid (the Brisbane Tigers Club) is an excellent run club. with big asset rich and grounds and club
they are also bigger than the Broncos in Asset and Money.
(they could easily move into the NRL)

NRL went with Dolphins as they would control the North and Sunshine Coast.

Speculation QLD would have 5 teams in time
But i would say the NRL will go with either
NZ 2 or Perth..

I actually think it's more likely they'll fall back to 16 clubs to be honest. The NRL has the same problem in Sydney that the AFL has in Melbourne. Too many clubs.

the teams in sydney who have been in the headlines of late would be.

Manly >> (they control the north of sydney) Northern beaches and are owned by the Penn Family.
West Tigers.. are majority owned by West Leagues (ashfield) and are doing very well financially. (they have also just built 75mill team HQ
Cronulla Sharks... Grounds are being upgraded and leagues club under development. are also now have a wealth of money..

(there is no club in Sydney now that is in financial trouble.. they are all doing solid

Umm pal, the Balmain leagues club closed years ago. The Newtown leagues club was sold in 1988. Norths leagues is still going and the Illawarra area has many leagues clubs that support local clubs and communities.

Nothing has actually changed. The nature of the reporting is the same. Its just [eople look a little deeper at the figures these days as more information is made readily accessible.

But I think the issue for some AFL fans is perception -mostly that AFL clubs are football clubs with pokies attached, where NRL clubs seem to be more Pokies with a club attached - and that shows in some of their accounting, if not outright ownership structures.
