Wow, how much growth has Australian Rules had in Queensland. No.2 footy code for popularity. That’s massive in what… the last decade would you say? :thumbleft:

Grassroots investment and development from the AFL is really starting to show the rewards now.

Living here, that's not too surprising. However I would hazard a guess that this is largely SEQ and possibly along the seaboard where AFL has a strong footing. If this was taking in the country areas or took in country areas I suspect it would be much higher for RL and a lot less for Aussie Rules.

its 7 seasons to 4 to the Titans
https://www.afltables.com/afl/crowds/goldcoast.html

one season was the thuns first V the Titans 5th , so hardly fair
new & shiny factor for the Thuns

Lol the same crap regurgitated again .
The aFlol propaganda Dept gets the brainwashed cult members every time.
I remember about 7-8 yrs ago posting sign up numbers for junior sport in SEQ.
AFlol came last in a field of 5 .
Then the cultisists started usuing participation numbers v actual club signings .

Reality is a bridge too far for those deep in the cult .

I watched the VFL finals last night (don’t ask me why it is called the VFL - such a stupid thing to do). The Suns were playing and they won beating Box Hill Hawks. Wasn’t too bad a game. They mentioned that for the first time all three Queensland teams are in the finals. Not a bad effort at all and I believe shows the strength of Aussie Rules in South East Queensland, and with some good players coming from North Queensland it says even more as to the spread of the game with so many playing at elite level. For mine, Southport Sharks are the real indicator as Brisbane and Gold Coast have many AFL listed players playing in the twos. Where’s the Southport Sharks hsve no such luxuary. Will be an interesting watch over the next few weeks.

It’s hilarious how fumblefans think that because some players come from QLd that it shows interest in AFL .
There’s got to be a sport out there for the not so coordinated..the ones who want a reward for not being able to kick straight .
The ones who it doesn’t matter if you can’t catch ..if you fumble continuously
Then AFL is king

RL is king in QLd.
& as I posted previously .
Sign up day a few yrs ago in SEQ had AFL last .
Not dodgy participation figures but sign ups for actual weekend comps
A true indication of grassroots support . .
