Re: NRL getting Nine on board for massive TV deal
the bottom line is a complete furphy
there are enormous anomalies in what the awful say they're going to get & what foxtel say the awful are getting
the increase has come soley from them
they said & i quote... its changed little from their original deal amount
plus telstra no longer have exclusive streaming rights with their invovlment drastically reduced. , so obviously can't be paying $50 mill a year for them
this 946 million figure seems utter rubbish

Re: NRL getting Nine on board for massive TV deal
"The extension of the rights deal resets the discounts associated with COVID and is financially little changed from the original 2017-22 agreement," a Foxtel spokesman said.
so if foxtel aren't tipping in much more & they aren't as the above confirms , & telstra are contributing significantly less
where is the $55 million a year increase the awful claim they're getting coming from ?
sus much

Re: NRL getting Nine on board for massive TV deal
I think it may work out better if C9 do get the broadcast rites provided they do plenty of advertising as P.V wants. C7 has a great relationship with the other mob, they make them plenty of money. How do we know if we signed with 7 that we will get equal billing ? And when the next Winter Olympics comes round we might find ourselves on C7 third string channel.
The ideal situation,as i see it , would be to get Ch9 again but have the Fox commentators. I know this wont happen but maybe it should.
The AFL previous deal was over 6 years not 5.

Re: NRL getting Nine on board for massive TV deal
I've come to hate Ch9's game coverage and their overall coverage of RL. The problem is their parent company, Nine Entertainment, runs TV stations, newspapers and radio stations all over Australia. Their footprint is massive.pussycat Mark 11 wrote: Wed Oct 20, 2021 11:54 amI think it may work out better if C9 do get the broadcast rites provided they do plenty of advertising as P.V wants. If they broadcast and promoted the game properly they would easily be the best bet. And as they look like renewing their deal I just hope PVL, Abdo and the others at the NRL can talk some sense into 'em. Surely they must look at the Fox numbers and wonder why they're so good.
Hopefully they'll put a bomb under who ever runs their RL coverage and re-set the whole thing!!!

Re: NRL getting Nine on board for massive TV deal
the original deal was 1.2 billion
240 million a year
while the actual terms of the revised covid deal were not disclosed
its thought it was reduced by about 20 million per season
the length of the deal was increased to 2027
what we know is the new 17th team & an extra 12 games a season ( all given to foxtel ) will increase the deal by 25 million a season & foxtel tipped in another 100 million over the next 5 years for the set up costs of the new side.
that puts foxtel at 265 million a year or 1.325 billion from 2023 to 2027
Add 9's 600 million
& NZ ( sky) increased their deal from 20 million to 30 million per year from 2023 til 2027
our new deal
2.075 Billion
or 415 Million per season
