The evidence is clear....YES. Yes, the 'code' was founded by a genocidal massacrist....

Is this surprising news? No. Adam Goodes is a LEGEND. No matter what the majority of the AFL community said during his twilight.

It's kinda telling the AFL have immortalised their genocidal massacrist founder in stone, statued outside the MCG.

For shame, for shame. This, the AFL.

for historical accuracy , they should construct another statue outside the mcg
of him beating a poor defenceless indigenous person to death with one hand
maybe strangling a baby too with the other

this his their founder
its is so very apt

Interesting story.
Most of Tom Wills family were murdered and their possessions were stolen in the biggest massacure by indigenous Australians in Australian history. So Tom rides out with some friends, family and Indigenous trackers and they catch up to a group carrying his family possessions including some bloke wearing his own jacket.
What would you do in 1860's Australia?
What they did was shoot as many of them as they could. I can't say that as a young bloke I wouldn't have done the same. I would bet good money that all of you would have done the same.

5 years later Tom leads an Aborignal cricket team as captain coach on a tour around Australia. But eventually depression got the best of him and he comitted suicide.

They can't really call themselves the indigenous game with stories like this out..

Is actually just a rip off of Gaelic Football anyway. Were a lot of Irish in Australia at that time.

What became Australian rules had nothing to with Irishmen, Gaelic Football or any form of aboriginal ball game.
The first rules were written by 5 old British public schoolboys in a pub in West Melbourne, under some influence from the pub owner.
All were members of the Melbourne Cricket Club at the time and all were official office holders at one time or another.
None attended the same school in Britain and in those times each school had their own style and rules of football.
This is why the first rules contained aspects of other games, the hard grounds of Melbourne also impacted on the formation of the rules.
So ”actually” it is not a rip off of Gaelic football.
BTW the first written rules for Gaelic football were not written until 1884, (and they were based on hurling), forms of football were played in Ireland well before this as they were just about everywhere else.
