So of the top 21 (20 and 21 same) Afl smashing it. Is this why they maybe can demand more money… more valuable overall ? Discuss!
If RL are 1,2,4,and7 4 of the top 10. How do you work out that AFL are smashing it? I mean smashing it would be having 40 of the top 43 PTV games.

They get more money on FTA because they have a lot more adds. On PTV, I'm not even sure that they do anymore.

Afl seem to dominant your list that you put up. Just a discussion point for you to engage in. Is this the reason why the AFL get so much more in broadcast rights? May be it is or May be you think it isn’t. This is the question being asked so you should try and focus on addressing that in your discussion; making points either way.

AFL get more money because of plenty of Advertising opportunities compared to the NRL.

its almost embarrassing the amount of adverts Rugby League gets in its FTA coverage compared to AFL>

1 quarter of AFL will generally have more adverts in Play than entire game of rugby league.

(that is why 4 quarters has been talked about to generate more money) but at the same time would prob destroy the fabric of the game
so i never see it happening..

(this is why the gravitation towards FOX subscription TV, as they do not rely on Advertising

That may apply to FTA but not Fox as no adds during the game. Do agree, however, with revenue opportunities on FTA for sure - but don't Fox pay more to AFL as well. Of course the latest has been kept a secret - for whatever reason but going back to the last ones we know of did Fox pay more for AFL than NRL. Would make sense as isn't SoO only on FTA and that is the biggest draw card. I think Fox would pay a mint for SoO if they were allowed to have it exclusively. Those days are soon coming I believe. Will be no good for either sport in my opinion. Look at cricket in the UK since going to subscription based - no one ever hears about it. Australia played WI in T20 on weekend - just happened to switch over - boring as by the way.

yes FOX pay more for AFL over NRL. approx 100mill over the 5 years on last deal. (so 20mil per year i think )
though i think we agreed FOX were looking for more subscribers and southern states and were willing to pay more to get.

did it work out ? i dont know

NRL with streaming is way ahead between the two, so i guess you gotta read between the lines. and say hmmm I dont think FOX got what
they were looking for in this deal.. i am not saying it is 100% Correct, i am just looking at the numbers and NRL is the clear winner.

yes worst thing cricket ever did in the UK, when it was on Channel 4 FTA it was a great success.
never lock a code of sport behind a paywall, rule number 1

yes i watched the Windies v Aus T20 in parts too.
gee with no crowd the game looks like park cricket.

Agree with most of that. I think streaming figures are very uncertain at best and a guesstimate at worst. How many services are there? Does the AFL and NRL sites have streaming through Telstra etc. Is it actual figures or estimates like ratings are done? My thinking is that until we have some definite figures there is caution reading too much into them. Not an AFL or NRL thing - just think we need more clarity. Would say the same if reversed.

Streaming Numbers are actually quite accurate and alot better than Tv Ratings from Tv's

Streaming can calculate minutes watched peaks and averages.
as most services you have to sign in and watch, they will also have your details
IP Address, Internet etc..

and NRL is in front on all fronts of streaming.
FOX KAYO ETC

4 to 5 reports this year alone and NRL are winning..

Streaming at the moment for the two codes AFL AND NRL>

AFL can only be streamed via FOX / KAYO

NRL can only be streamed via 9now FOX AND KAYO

I still think we need to see all the figures just like we do with FTA and Fox. If they have them why don't they publish them? That's a bit strange.

not sure why they do not publish weekly or daily data of streaming..
strange, i guess will change in time..
i think it is accessible, as News Websites Daily telegraph and media week seem to get there hands on it.

i think 5 rounds of footy throughout the 17 rounds is a good look and idea of how things are looking..

it shows NRL in front by a good margin per game.

in total that is 40 games approx.

Possibly - I guess it depends on what games, what day, what time etc. the games they are releasing details for. I think once we have the full figures they can be properly discussed and reviewed but until them it is just speculation. Far too many variables even with FTA and Fox ratings let alone taking a small sample size of a few rounds. Was it a whole round or just a match here and there?

they were whole rounds randomly published over the course of this seasons.
i think that is enough, as it was a Whole rounds of footy, and not cherry picking.

you would have a point if it was last year,
they cherry picked a bunch of games
usually the highest rating games and published randomly.

since than Streaming has risen sharply.. with the demise of Telstra showing the games
and FOX signing new deals and licensing to show content.

Still think 5 rounds is too small - but yes, better than last years cherry picking games. I'll wait until they publish the whole data before considering them.
