Would AFL be better if they got rid of the 2 extra side goals?
This would allow for only the best kickers to score. With no consolation points for poor skills when people miss a shot at goal.

They all have some form of “behind” the goals,
Australian rules (VFL) introduced the point for a ball going behind the goals to reduce the of number drawn matches in 1897. Well after the rules mentioned behind posts.
Soccer introduced kick outs and goal kicks and the other rugby type ball games evolved other ways of clearing the ball when it went “behind” the goals or goal line.
Most games still have the equivalent of point posts, whether they call them corners, flags or pylons, they are still there, and except soccer, have different scores or methods of clearing the ball when the line is crossed.
Arguing with great authority from a position of complete ignorance seems to be your forte.

I like the point concept as think it makes the game very exciting - it both rewards and punishes. Therefore if you are the dominant team but not getting the goals - the points can reflect the dominance - however too many points can lead to the other team beating you if they score goals and are more accurate.
My frustration with Soccer for instance is that a team can be clearly dominant all game and not score and it can be a 3 minute brain fade or error that sees the other side score and win.
So the point ion aussie rules is so useful as in the above case, say soccer had the same score process as Aussie Rules, the dominant team would win as they accumulate may 7 points - to the weaker but lucky teams 6 (1 goal). However, if the other team was to come back and score two goals instead of the won - well they deserve the win as the other team wasted their opportunities when in front of goal. That's my take any,

especially the soccer won.
A team can be so dominate and have 80% of the ball and still lose 1 - 0
is why soccer is so popular also, you can be a average team and only lose by 2 goals.

This is a very lame attempt to defend your lame mess of a game Inequollity old boy!!!!! The whole point is the fumbling game rewards failure. No other code does that. No player ever means to kick a point. The only reason a point is scored is because the poor bumbling fumbler missed a goal. Yep - failed!!!!Quolls2019 wrote: Tue Jan 26, 2021 8:20 pmNo, look at the history of all football games,Footy Fan wrote: Sat Jan 23, 2021 3:08 pmThis would allow for only the best kickers to score. And the history of 'all football games' is totally irrelevant. We are talking about the here and now. If other codes had anything resembling a behind they got rid of it a century or more ago so as to remove the stain of embarrassment of rewarding failure.
And pal, 'kick outs', 'goal kicks' or any form of clearing is in no way equivalent to adding an actual point to the scoreline for failing in your main endeavour. You're gonna have to do better that this Inequollity!!!!
And in closing: I argue with great authority from a position of complete knowledge and understanding!!!

Thanks Inequollity!!! Re history: Let me know when any code introduces any form of scoring following a failure to score. Like you know........ repeating history. One solution would be for the AFL to introduce a second chance, or a mulligan for each kicker(marksman),

Why do you think AFL scorelines are so much higher than every single other football code?
It is because scoring is so easy. No sport in the world awards points when you miss or hit the side post.

It’s a different game indeed. It’s okay if you don’t like it ... that’s your choice. Millions of Aussies love our national game ... some like you don’t. It all comes down to preference. There are many sports I don’t get into as well . What is good is the diversity of spurts we do have in this country to choose from. How good is that.

You don't need two extra side goals in a game of football.
GridIron, Rugby Union, Soccer or Rugby League don't need them. So why does AFL?
Are your players that shit at taking shots at goal that they have to add extra side goals and get rid of crossbars??

You even reward points if someone hits the post. So very stupid.

Let's be honest. This is all done to make the game too easy to score.
