Lol you are talking potential .
Afl fans on the coast would already have fox if they followed southern teams .
They Suns fans & lol how many are there ?... don't need it .

So how many fans of other teams would, there be ...not enough for a spike in subscriptions
After all we are told over & over how much afl is growing .
How the Suns are getting peopel interested .

Brisbane currently get 2/3 of there games on FTA. So many Broncos fans wouldn't worry about a fox subscription. They will spend a lot less time on FTA when a 2nd Brisbane team comes in. So fox will not only pick up subs for the new team but also from the Broncos fans.

That real potential, not endless crap like the other mob rave on and on about but, but, but

That’s actually a good point Crapper. Afl fans would already have foxtel. So the potential there you would think would be filled. So yes, hadn’t thought of that and your point makes sense.

And yes, the suns fans, and I would agree there are as many suns fans, if not more, than titans fans, would not need it. So yes, agree.

How are the suns getting people interested. Well, the only way they be getting people interested is by winning I feel. Yes, Australian rules has a very large presence here... in most schools, played in large numbers, and yes, lots of kids seem to have their jumpers on at kids footy training. As these kids come through I guess the hope is that they continue to support the suns ...but winning will certainly consolidate this. The afl also recognise this and have also offerred a lot of support to see them win more (you can argue to fairness of this or otherwise but for this thread it is about how they are attracting more support so mentioned this re:winning). Also the suns work hard to get into schools (player vists etc.) which many nrl fans point to as something the afl does well and wish the nrl did half as well (I think there is a recent thread on this and concern with the reduction of funding to such programmes in the nrl). So i am not concerned about the afl wanting to get more fans of the suns... weather they come or not is the question. What you have now however through all this poor form is at least 12 to 14 thousand rusted on fans that have shown to stick through thick and thin....that’s a great base. I think this is where the suns have it over the giants .... giants did well too soon or went from bad to good to quickly. I think or wonder whether this support is “rusted” on ... I think the suns have a more solid base of supporters.

I misread your post sorry where you we’re taking about subs fans.

In regard to how many fans of other clubs.... I would think there would be enough, a lot, whether that is enough for a spike in subscriptions i don’t know...what constitutes a spike.... how many needed for a spike I guess. But essentially I am agreeing with your statement re: this would already be happening and therefore not relevant to potential subscriptions. The potential may be in new supporters coming through ... but as you point out suns already fta so it would only catch those wanting the footy as fox deliver it... no adds, all games... and the associated programming. As Australian rules on the seq is large and indeed growing in interest ... this may be the reason for paying what they pay. I would argue whilst the potential for growth in rl May also be there in wa, vic, wa etc.... it is very small when you look at its presence in the community ... Melbourne even have a team which does well but there is one league of about 13 teams for the state. Sa is even smaller. I think wa is a little bit better but still small. Compared to Australian rules presence on qls amd nsw ... they are miles apart. Anyway. Hope that helps.

so if it is subscriptions and not ratings..
When it has been prooven NRL have more subs
Where has this ever been proven?
(is it the fact FOX have paid overs)
This bullshit gets trotted out every time the AFL gets a bigger deal.
well seeming that FOX was built on Rugby League and Games tv figures are higher per week.
than any other sport on FOX i would assume Rugby League takes the cake.

I have also recalled FOX was trying to push for more Subs into southern states.
in many articles over the years with the AFL deal.

FOX have admitted they have paid overs for the AFL
I think FOX did not hit its expectations on subs over the past 8 years also since Simulcast

 They've basically admitted it now Fred . They've given the NRL more, and wont sign a contract with AFL till they accept less.

\

And the reason they didnt sign is because they feel its over priced.

I didnt say that article did say the NRL got more. Other articles do though .

What that article does say is Fox wants to pay less for AFL.

It seems the person with the best view of this is Peter The Great. He knows his numbers & he's basing his assumption on Gilty saying the AFL were discounted $150M. So at this stage my assumption is to go with PTG's assumption!!!!

No. He knows his side of the facts. he knows whats been reported. As you guys are fond of telling us all the time, the media lies especially news corp, but fuck me if you dont trot it out as soon as it suits you all
Almost right Wookster. The media is reporting the $150M discount Gilty has been telling them. So providing Gilty is telling the truth (and with his track record who knows) PVL would know who did better as long as he is telling the truth. And since he has taken over the NRL he has a stellar record for getting it right & telling it exactly how it its.
