COVID-19 Affects it will have on Australian footy codes
NRL AND AFL IN CRISIS>>
Pressure from around the world with cancelling of games and postponing of games has put a huge spanner in the works.
Financially for the NRL & AFL it could be a huge hit..
Memberships, crowds, sponsors.
coverage from networks.
games behind close doors.
(it is only the beginning..

If the China game is played in Cairns & why would they if no one is allowed to go then someone better change Giltys script .
If he dusts off last years which was a copy of the previous years & proclaims a sellout in China
Half the crowd in catering tents ..it'would be hilarious .
Seriously will the codes still take games to the bush etc when no one can watch .

Will impact AFL a great deal given crowds are a major revenue stream. NRL will notice but not as much I would assume. The AFL will suspend and play later I feel.

Re: COVID-19 Affects it will have on Australian footy codes
Cricket Australia has announced Australia’s ODIs against New Zealand will go ahead, but without crowds.
The three matches will take place in front of an empty Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday and Sunday and Blundstone Arena on March 20.
“All fans who purchased public tickets are eligible for a full refund and will be contacted directly by Ticketek,” Cricket Australia said in a statement on Friday, just hours before the series opener.

look like Cricket Australia has told the crowd to stay at home and enjoy the game on TV..
the game will resemble now an nrl game where you can here the camera zoom in and out along with isles of empty seats:lol:

Re: COVID-19 Affects it will have on Australian footy codes
The chief medical officer said he was the one who set Monday as the starting point for banning crowds over 500. It was decided at a meeting including the PM and Premiers. Further stated this was a bit earlier than he thought necessary but he had to pick a starting point.

I think they’re going the wrong way. Let’s get everyone who is healthy together so we all can get it (if haven’t already got it and been asymptomatic) and have a few days of cold like symptoms and move on. Storm in a tea cup.

Re: COVID-19 Affects it will have on Australian footy codes
Ok they ban crowds of 500 or more
Yet larger shopping centres will have far more peopel than that in them at one time .
Some of the bigger sports.clubs will have large crowds ( with extra going to watch the footy on a big screen ..lunch ..a few drinks etc )
So I can't See it making much difference .

The whole thing is a bit of a double standard in the way that they are still letting people travel on crowded trains and buses together where people are breathing the same recycled air in a confined closed space.
Yet people can't go to a footy match in the fresh air?

Cleary don’t understand the potential spread of the virus and haven’t left the basement for a while!NRL&NFLweLaughATafl wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 6:21 amThe whole thing is a bit of a double standard in the way that they are still letting people travel on crowded trains and buses together where people are breathing the same recycled air in a confined closed space.

Cleary you're a lllooooonnnn pal!!!!!! This thing will be a far bigger economic problem than a health one. Panic, exaggeration and outright lies are your M.O. Sadly this is also the M.O. around the reporting of this variance of every day influenza.leagueiscrap wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 8:42 amCleary don’t understand the potential spread of the virus and haven’t left the basement for a while!NRL&NFLweLaughATafl wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 6:21 amThe whole thing is a bit of a double standard in the way that they are still letting people travel on crowded trains and buses together where people are breathing the same recycled air in a confined closed space.

I suggest you continue with your usual rants about "da banks, da bank, da banks" and let the adults deal with this issue.

Re: COVID-19 Affects it will have on Australian footy codes
NZ PM just said anyone entering NZ must self isolate for 14 days. Meaning the Warriors can't play there. Every chance the NRL comp gets suspended or Warriors base themselves in Australia for the duration of the panic stations.

The virus has spread so easily in no time terry! It’s true potential is unknown & The grubernment job is to responsively ensure it spreads as little as possible!Terry wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 10:56 amCleary you're a lllooooonnnn pal!!!!!! Re: COVID-19 Affects it will have on Australian footy codes
I have to agree with Terry on the hysteria going on for is literally a variant of the common cold. For the vast majority it will be no more than a runny nose and slight fever at worst. I think they’re going the wrong way... get everyone to gather together and catch it and tell them not to go around old people or immune compromised (like you would with any other commutable disease) and be done with it.
