Yes, interesting how head trauma - or repeated head trauma can impact the brain long-term. We have heard Punch Drunk used in boxing for years and I wondered if this was the same thing? I see soccer in some parts has stopped training incorporating "heading" the ball in juniors. I thought about helmets like they have in GridIron however seems to have done little there - given the brain sits in fluid and moves violently when the head is knocked or moved violently. Interesting research.

CTE is not yet fully understood. Jumping to conclusions based on current knowledge of it is fraught with danger. The study attached gives a more balanced view. Over 700 people, both athletes and non athlete's, were tested. 42 were diagnosed with CTE. 27 were former athletes and 15 were not.

So it is not something solely afflicting athletes. Therefore attributing causation is not and should not be definitive. More study needs to be done with a much larger control group tested.

Poor fella, but in saying that, you play the games, you know deep down what could happen. But again, sorry for the guy.

It's a danger that sportspeople face .
Big financial rewards & Notoriety ..
But bigger than normal risk of problems from that sport .

It comes with the territory .
