the ARU provide $5 million to the 4 Super Rugby Clubs
which the states fund the State League Shute Shield & QLD premier league
currently FOXSPORTS bankroll the National Rugby Championship
R.U rejecting FOX latest bid.
sponsors jumping ship..
next 12 months is huge for ARU

Probably after the world cup performance and all the mess with Israel Folau has done a lot of damage to the brand.

they should have invested in leagues clubs and had a superleague war like the NRLOL did back in the 80s and 90s

AFL has definitely taken a chunk out of the wealthy Rugby fan base from the North Shore and the Eastern Suburbs.. The Islander side of fan base still like Union & League and will never get into AFL.
I would say a lot of Swans fans are the same white collar types who probably watch the Wallabies too.
Former PM Malcom Turnbull is a perfect example.

I’d say maybe that was true in Sydney and qld but afl covers all those demographics in the rest of Australia as it’s the only real winter sport of choice .
