A $10,000 fine, 1 week suspension and loss of the captaincy at Souths. Is the penalty too harsh for calling Parramatta's Dean Widders a black merkin?

Personally I think it's very irresponsible from a Souths captain, particularly with many of the local Aboriginal community supporting Souths. As for the penalty well, yes I tend to agree as racism in sport must be dealt with harshly in order to stamp it out.

Others may think it is political correctness out of control. What do you think?

I think he deserves what he got. He's very apologetic now but its too late. Widders is a superb player and i can see how an old truck like fletcher could be jealous of the skills of widders and come out with a racist outburst like that.

The death penalty should be invoked here!
