Pretty funny as it was stated the tickets were rather expensive and a new start up team playing a team from WA
And that crowd was similar to several nrlol finals games involving two Sydney teams
So despite and obsessed with AFL all you can do is pick on a few new expansion teams! All the other clubs are just to big to pick on

True
The finals 2017GWS attendance was very poor for an AFLFinals game.
I think they may top that figure this year but not by much.
However over the same period (post WWI) that attendance figure of 14,865 topped Chuckball finals figures on 39 occasions including 3 “Grand” Finals.
There were another 4 games (2 GF’s) where attendances were reported as up to 5,000.
And since rubbery figures is often a topic here, another 43 were within 1,000.
So, very poor for AFL, perhaps not in comparison to others.
It’s easy to pick and criticise in isolation, and it’s fun too.
Of course I could do a comparison to the other “great” Chuckball competitions, that “embarrass” the AFL, but pointing out inadequacies is just not cricket.

Lol gws get 14k+ to their first final in a near new stadium after AfLol having been available to fumblefans in Syd for 30+ years ..with massive amounts of $$$ & media propaganda thrown at it .
Melb Storm in 98 make finals for first tome ,play out of an ancient stadium ..lol nothing like the midgets stadium
With a minute amount of history ...no propaganda .
They get 18k plus .

Melbourne Storm, (no propaganda is a bit of a stretch) a great success story for the NRL, one of the Top 3 NRL clubs none of which are in Sydney. No comparison to the swans in followers, you know rather Swans, the most popular FOOTBALL club in NSW, and close with the lions.
The article referenced crowds since WWI so a comparison seemed reasonable and logical to use that as a start date, since this was the theme of the thread.
Have already said above it was a horrible crowd or is that CWOWD
And already stated in other threads that I believe GWS is at least 2 generational project. Stranger in a strange land and made some early poor decisions that may have turned off some potential followers.
A mute point but if GWS was a NSW NRL startup, the NRL would not be totally unhappy with their progress.
About AFL posters only shouting about crowds, pretty sure none of those started this thread.

Pal, you don't seem to understand the meaning of this thread. It's about comparing the last finals game at Un-named stadium to the coming game. The last one was the lowest attendance in over 100 years of AFL finals. The coming game will be less but Gilty and the boys will no doubt tell us differently.

I have never said GWS are going great, have used the word disappointing on several occasions.
Their ticket prices are outrageous, seating arrangements deter general admission, and yes, attendance, for AFL ,is very poor and made some bad start up decisions.
And I am not a lover of the AFL management, a bit reactionary and hold onto bad decisions and I’m not referring to the expansion teams.
But it is a bit hard to argue reasonably against their success.
