John Stanley - Lying League Scum

Apparently Mr Stanley was on his own low rating 2UE program yesterday claiming the Swans game against Collingwood was beaten throughout the entire telecast by every FTA channel. What he didn't tell his few listeners was the fact that he was using the lowest point during the half time break, whilst using the peaks for every other channel.

The AFL in Sydney obviously has him and other league supporters worried. He ought to concern himself more with the low ratings of his own radio program.

Oh and btw, the Swans game had the biggest football code crowd in Sydney for 2005, barring SoO which cannot be considered the NRL for obvious reasons. In addition, on the same weekend the NRL's average home and away crowd average dropped to its lowest point in 2005 with a little over 10,000. A mere 6,000 odd in Melbourne for the Storm.

My kicking style is just fine thank you very much. As for the SFL this weekend, me and Jules will be in Melbourne for the Swans v Tigers game. Anyway all that aside, what has your post got to do with the thread topic?

I see the "lying league scum" hopped on the Swans Bandwagon over the last week.

Just goes to show you how superficial support for the Swans in Sydney really is.

Everyone in Sydney/NSW is on the Swans bandwagon. The task now is to convert those new supporters into real supporters who will follow the fortunes of the team from Round 1. Winning the premiership will do wonders for the code in NSW.

You only have to look at the spectacular growth in juniors, crowds, tv ratings, merchandise etc in Brisbane/QLD to see what effect a premiership will have for the AFL in NSW. Great times ahead, especially with the next TV rights being re-negotiated as we speak.

The amount of people who watched the AFL GF in Sydney decreased from 1996.

Why is that?

Meanwhile, watch for the NRL GF ratings this week in QLD and NSW. I'm expecting highest ever.

Would be approriate considering 2005 has been the best season of Rugby League ever. :)

Probably to do with the fact no Victorian team was present. It was hardly a major decrease anyway and still very impressive figures for the AFL and Channel 10. I'm sure they have no complaints. In addition, lets not forget that those figures only include the capital cities. The regional figures for NSW should also prove spectacular.

Just imagine what the figures would have been like if the AFL had a night GF. I think that is where the AFL is headed with the next broadcasting agreement. Also worth noting is the fact that the Saturday afternoon AFL GF outrated the NRL finals in Brisbane shown during prime time.

Coming from such a low base of support it's not surprising that the NRL boasts it is the best season of rugby league ever. What was that increase in average crowds again? 400 odd?

Will be interesting to see the national TV figures next week. As has always been the case, I suspect the AFL will once again hammer the NRL in the TV ratings for each codes GF. Do you think the NRL has any chance of topping the AFL GF figures?

Having read your other thread Willis, it's apparent the peak audience in Sydney was less than the AFL GF. Fantastic result for the AFL in Sydney/NSW.

This is the third time you have posted this lie. 1.267 peak for NRL.
1.23 peak for AFL

Average audince 200,000 higher for the NRL.

Do you like this article??

http://www.smh.com.au/news/Sport/NRL-gr ... 03150.html
The national television audience for Sunday's NRL grand final has topped four million viewers after regional figures were added to the overall ratings.

In total, 4.132 million fans watched the Wests Tigers defeat North Queensland 30-16, an increase of 800,000 viewers to last year's decider between the Bulldogs and the Sydney Roosters.

At one stage on Sunday night, 96 per cent of television sets in the Townsville region were tuned into WIN for the match. Overall, the WIN network in regional Queensland added an overall total of 500,000 viewers to the national figure.

More than 900,000 fans were tuned in across the NSW regional markets through NBN and WIN.

The match was the most watched television program of the year in Sydney and Brisbane.

"The figures show the depth of support there is for the game, particularly in the two states of NSW and Queensland that represent more than half Australia's population and giving advertisers access to more than half the nation's retail activity," NRL chief executive David Gallop said.

On one level it was a fairytale that everyone could appreciate but importantly it also reflects an ongoing love people have for rugby league in our key markets.

"This year's figures have also been encouraging for the interest generated in both Melbourne and regional Victoria and hopefully we can build on that through the Melbourne Storm next season."

I'd like to echo David Gallop's comments, and thank the people of Melbourne for tuning into the telecast in record numbers.

Can you imagine the ratings the next time the Storm play in the GF??

I'm predicting 5 milllion ++

Where are you getting this 1.267 peak figure from. The Courier Mail reported 1.2 million for the NRL GF with 1.23 million for the AFL GF. The linked article you posted makes no mention of this 1.267 peak figure. Did you just pull it out of your arse?

Oh and were you aware that over 96% of TV viewers in Perth were tuned into the AFL GF whilst over 75% of the potential viewers in Sydney/NSW were also tuned in. Fantastic result for the AFL in NSW you'd have to agree.
