61000 on fta for battle of the bridge .... not bad
"not bad" that's a double negative Freddy boy!!!! I'd say after all the money fumblehouse has thrown at Sydney the crowd (7K) ratings and general interest in 'ol Sydney town was pathetic!!! It looks like the fab 4 got it right......."money can't buy me love". Back to the drawing board Gilty.

And Freddo, I understand you no longer engage with me. Good move pal!!!! I mean how many blood noses can one man take?

In any case take care my friend and cheerio to Mrs Fred and the brains trust!!!!

Yeah everyone was saying dream result for the AFL would have been Richmond vs Collingwood. Me thinks the AFL would like prospect of more viewers in NSW with Richmond vs Greater Western Sydney.

I think the Gold Coast request to not have Friday night games ... ? I know Brisbane have stated previously they prefer Saturday or Sunday afternoon games as it allows Families to attend more.

i have never heard anything like this before>>

yes the Lions like afternoon slots better than the saturday night or sunday evenings

but love the Primetime slots, Thursday & Friday

And the AFL have rewarded them for a solid year
in which they were quite popular.
and i think the AFL want to capture this moment>>

(also the reason AFL do not select the SUNS is poor form and they do not rate.

LOL Suns would love a FRIDAY NIGHT HIT OUT>

with the attention on them and beamed around the nation live

who would say no to friday nights lol

Possibly - but my thinking was that want people at games more and to be family friendly. Each club I believe can make 1 or 2 requests. Most clubs want to play Collingwood as a home game due to likely bigger crowd and thus revenue - hence why Pies get some many games at the MCG - a lot of these are home games for the other team. I did read Lions requested afternoon games as opposed to night games but that was a few years back. Maybe that is the first step - grab the local family support first - once you are bigger go for the broader exposure on Friday night games?

But yes, prime slots are usually reserved for the better (or predicted better) sides.

more eyeballs are on primetime.
all clubs dont request primetime..

it is a given that they want it, but it is up to the AFL

suns know they will not be given primetime slots,

so they make a request for family friendly slots

to at least win on the crowd front

The Lions, however, welcomed their season schedule in a statement from CEO Greg Swann.

“We’re delighted to have some marquee Thursday and Friday night games at The Gabba,” he said.

Channel 7 had reportedly leaned on the AFL to deliver a blockbuster match-up for its Friday night fixture, following the Olympics. Seven will reportedly dump the AFL to digital channel 7mate while the Games are held in Tokyo from July 24 to August 9 next year and the network wanted the league to deliver a boom fixture for when the AFL returns to its main channel the following weekend. The Herald Sun reports Seven was “desperate to avoid” the same “ratings disaster” it suffered in round 22 last year when the Swans played Melbourne on Friday night in a game where both sides were already doomed to finishing near the bottom of the ladder. The AFL came through for the broadcaster by scheduling a Collingwood-West Coast blockbuster in Perth on Friday, August 14.
