Looks like the THUNS have bailed on the failed China experiment .
Lol ..
Will the Aflol blackmail one of the poorer clubs into going to play over there so they can continue with this laughable venture .
One of the poorer Melb clubs could be asked to go ...ummm if you want extra handouts from head office here's what we want you to do ..

Now back to the GC
Could be a bargain around if they decide to sell all the catering tents .

FOR SALE
5000 Catering tents .
Only used twice by 5000 invisible people .

:(/ :(/ :(/

Oh & how did that last sentence get through without GIl telling them to not print it .
It says far different to the crap he was sprouting .

Gold Coast not keen on a return to China
Ben McKay, AAP
Sep 2, 2018 2:17PM

GOLD Coast has walked away from future AFL matches in China after two years of playing Port Adelaide in Shanghai.

Suns chairman Tony Cochrane used the club's best and fairest awards night to declare the club's interest in the overseas venture over.

"The board have decided that to give the playing group every possible chance in the future that the trip is too onerous and too difficult," he said, reported by the Gold Coast Bulletin.

"(2018) was our last foray to China."

Gold Coast lost both of its clashes with the Power at Jiangwan Stadium, playing as the nominal home team.

This year, it also lost the next seven matches after returning from China, despite the aid of the bye immediately after its return.

The fixture has struggled to create enthusiasm in Shanghai, with lack of local engagement and poor attendance.

Does anyone remember the hype from AFL and their fans before the first match.

"AFL will have the biggest market in the world playing their sport"
"Gloating to rugby league for not getting there first"

Has all become one big flop and total silence from the AFL.

The China experiment was just a distraction for the sun's as they need address a few problems closer to home.
David kosh is the main instigator of matches in China, don't think he has thrown in the towel yet, no announcement .
Need more Chinese to embrace the game as participants and spectators before we throw the success word around.
Make or break next year for this event, need more Chinese than expats at the stadium for match 3.

Does anyone else remember AFL fans on here, salivating just drooling it all out there, gloating at the potential and stating how smart the AFL were and that all it’ll take is just one percent of the Chinese population to switch on and watch the game to make it a ginormous success??

:(/

They never even got one millionth of one percent!!! That’s exactly how far the AFL and many of it’s fans are from reality. One millionth of the way there
