Are the Melbourne Crowds a result of Melbourne being a very, very boring place? Having nothing else to do?

Look at there ground records. Despite ten's of thousands of AFL games being played at the MCG A religious nut and his revival meeting holds the record for the largest crowd. League has played just a handful of matches at the MCG yet they have 3 of the top 20 crowds. Soccer 99 thousand and union similar.

MCG Crowd Records
- Billy Graham
- AFL
- Eucharistic Congress
- AFL
- AFL
- Soccer
- AFL
- Soccer
- Cricket
- Rugby League
- Cricket
- Rugby Union
- Cricket
- Rugby League
- Rugby League
- Soccer
- Cricket

Etihad Stadium crowd records:

- Jehovah's witness convention
- Global warming convention
- Rugby Union
- Soccer
- Rugby League
- AFL

???? Isn't this supposed to be AFL territory? Look at the Sydney grounds. All the crowd records are held by rugby league and in some cases others codes but not AFL!

No, the evidence pussycat provides is clear. Religious nutters would take first and third above the AFL

It’s a very fine piece of research and analysis pussycat has provided above. I know it reveals AFL is not all it’s cracked up to be but the least you could do is acknowledge pussycats fine work [-X

Well said KE.
Seems that the AFL is not the only cult like organisation that can fleece people by convincing them that what they are watching is real .
Many similarities ....stupid people following a cult etc

every single AFL GF is a sellout, therefore if the capacity was higher the crowd number would be higher for all AFL games. The MCG capacity used to be larger when they allowed standing room, however, H+S, rules, renovations and upgrades have limited the total to just over 100k .

Are you seriously questioning if the AFL GF sells out? :hmm: Are you THAT stupid? :hmm: :[]

What are you trying to say here, that the AFL isnt popular in Melbourne? That AFL fans dont like attending games?

When Billy Graham preached at the MCG they allowed 130k into the ground. This was possible because there were large areas of standing room, and people were allowed onto the field. It's impossible to hold an AFL match with fans on the playing arena, so the argument is idiotic, just like you fools.

Max capacity is now 100k, so Billy Graham's 130k with stand forever more

But what? You expect the AFL to get crowds bigger than 130k when the capacity is 100k?

What I'm saying Is, it doesn't matter if its AFL or Billy Graham. The people turn up in numbers no matter what the event because Southerners look forward to some type of outing(release) from there very humdrum lives. A congress for global warming it doesn't matter. And the likes of Etihad stadium back this up .

In 2015 a rugby League game, An English soccer game and something else all attracted bigger crowds than any AFL game that year with the only exception being that years GF!

So how do you suggest the AFL fill a stadium beyond its capacity? I went to a concert at etihad where the stands and ground were packed resulting in a crowd of 70k. Yet the AFL have never managed to get over 60k despite selling out. The AFL is obviously unpopular at Etihad.....lel
