And all that is true. Australian Rules is growing. Membership numbers are up. It was a good crowd yesterday. And people are talking about the game ... even rl fans on here. Yet to see a thread on the storm game .... or twitter feeds saying this or that. There appears to a be a need to try and put the afl and Australian rules down for some reason.

Was watching the GWS vs Bulldogs game and noticed that nobody likes sitting up in the nosebleed sections of the ground that GWS use.
Yet when you go to Marvel Stadium General admission seating is in the nosebleed section.

Here's a lovely article written in the great Melbourne publiction the Herald Sun. I particularly liked the title:

AFL finals: GWS dirty tactics, tiny crowd and bizarre stadium PA chants.

It went on to say "footy fans have gone into meltdown over GWS' physical play and sparse crowd.

Now I haven't seen the game so I can't comment. If there is a replay I will try to catch it and investigate the crowd number given in my normal diligent manner.

For now I can only go on the word of the great AFL fans living in world capital city Melbourne. They seem to think the crowd was tiny and sparse.

Considering the announced crowd was just short of 20k it seems those comparisons do not agree with the announced figure. Surely a ground 4/5th's full would be heaving and look almost full.....you know......like 4/5th's full without any banks or tiers of stands as empty as Fred's encyclopedia book shelves llolololol.

Stand by for more as I gather evidence.

Here's another article. This time from Fox Sports. They say "the dismal crowd has come under fire with a plethora of seats looking empty".

They don't appear to believe the announced number saying, "The stadium has a modest capacity of 24,000, with the top tier of several stands virtually empty in pictures posted on social media early in the game." Adding, "GWS state on their website that they have 30,108 members."

The picture is very telling. It shows whole top tiers stands totally devoid of people.

Interesting stuff.

I've just checked the vision and the crowd could be fairly described as small/sparse/tiny. Let's remember the capacity is 24k.

Yep. I reckon around 3k tops. At 8.5k it's 1/3 full. That's one in every three seats filled. It wasn't anywhere near that. Not even close. Only an idiot would believe that number.

Was at the Suns and was thinking about 10 minutes before the bounce it was like a Chinese city that had been built and no one inhabited it . But a lot seemed to arrive where I was just before the bounce. Still only 9300 or so there which was dissapointing.

No that was the offical crowd Terry. I think on your hastily juvenile attempt to score points on this forum you may have misread the post. Not to worry. And yea, I am not great at crowd estimates.
