Bloody hell. What an arduous read this thread is.....

Far too complex for me to chime in with anything constructive.
So,
Can anyone tell me, in simple terms please, how do all these ratings benifit their respective leagues?

Don't waste time explaining .
Fumble fans have one narrow insular view of things ..
Because that's all their sport has .
We have multiple levels that rate well above 2 or 3 mill .

They have trouble with that .

these multiple levels make up less than 5% of your year's games, but you carry on like theyre 50%

No we don't
We just highlight how huge they are .
Seeing as you lot try to dismiss anything that is not one comp ...like yours
It's a very very narrow view of the sporting world seen through very insular eyes .
You have nothing that can compare to what we have .so as long as you trivialise our rep games we will highlight how they smash your games ..
It eats you mob up ....that is also a bonus .

if a single game representing your entire competition didnt get ratings comparable to a GF you'd be seriously worried. But does it help us compare the popularity of both competitions in any way? Nope. Yes RL is more popular internationally than AFL internationally. Yes RL SOO is more popular than AFL SOO. These are given, just like it's a given the AFL have far better crowds and are far more national than the NRL. But when comparing the NRL and AFL comps on TV the rep games are irrelevant.

According to Oztam figures our H&A competition is out rating yours. But just say they do rate equal, Were at 90% capacity your at 100%.
I have explained AT LENGTH why comparing competitions using cumulative ratings is meaningless, but you keep ignoring it. Yet you havent got a single answer to why your competition struggles to rate over 1m for regular season games despite being able to target your entire metro market in a single game, having your entire metro market in the same time zone, and having a shorter telecast. Massive advantages yet still cannot match the AFL match for match

C 9 must be really stupid, because they've been competing with C7 for market share for decades.

You need to tell them there wasting there time. [-(

competing for audience and comparing ratings of individual programs is not the same

the AFL MEDIA put it as the BIG TIME if your playing on Friday Night.
its your PRIME GAME/HIGHLIGHT EVENT of the week.

where as in NRL>> when your got games on Thursday night every week.
Games at 6pm Friday and 8pm Friday. every week.
and all the rep games around it..

Friday Night is not really that Glossy in the NRL compared to the AFL>

A fair few Thursday and public holiday games do, as they are played in isolation

yeah, after looking at the ratings we only have a small number of Thursday games at the start and end of the season, and many were during the olympics so they rated lower. Last year was a better example.

However, as i said, the NRL can include any games they want. But I think you'll find barely any of their games rated over 1m this year, certainly less than last year.
