one would think with a billion dollar contract for broardcast deals, money in this war chest they were building & the code turning over 300 million plus the bank would loan the NRLOL a measly 30 million
but but the NRLOL is going places the basement dwelling dweebs of leaue fans tell us the NRLOL is bulding up a war chest to combat and take over the AFL

It seems to be more of a case of the NRL rejecting to take out a loan to pay the players .

just had a brief read over their annual report it says the NRLOL has 261 million listed in assets
as well as that 50 odd million they had banked a few years ago has evaporated
their credit line must be worse than an alan bond's

Sounds like a drama over nothing. Sure it is bad management. But if you think the NRL won't exist or will have to cut teams for next year.. Your dreaming
Nothing will change. And you will have the RLWC to enjoy soon. Something AFL will never have.
With AFLs Ch7 paying for tv rights.

AFL still the biggest and most dominant sport in the country. Nrl will always be around but in what capacity ? Look at rugby union ... who would have thought ... and if the nrl continue to remain stagnant then they risk going the sane way. I don't think they will but with the AFL expanding along with soccer they need to be more aggressive in trying to get a national footprint.

Firstly .. whilst I didn't like it... the China game was apparently a huge success and achieved exactly what port Adelaide set out to do... gaining more sponsorship.
Secondly, at least the AFL are proactive. The nrl management constantly take a low risk approach ... they need to expand and expand fast before it goes the way of rugby union. Tv ratings may be okay for now but if sport goes the way of pay for view, whether it be streaming or other methods, then rl will be in big trouble ... particularly given their lower socioeconomic supporter base. Vb, bundy rum, and other such affiliates will only pay if their target market are watching.

The AFL support is across all socio-economical levels. RL looks more working class. Even comparing BF and LU, the difference is obvious
