how much is too much..

Players getting revenue of the games profits.. (do you agree ?)


For me players are paid well, and there should be more reward for fans of the game.

as without the FANS the game dies..

Players of all codes can be replaced (but the fans cannot)

I agree Leeroy. There is always talk about grassroots in RL but I know blokes who run and administer junior teams and comps in the bush and they say they have seen zero extra contribution by the NRL into their regions since the commission started. That is where some big money has got to go. All players come from the grassroots. Well..... all except for fumbleball which due to it's simple, skill-less game has the luxury of getting blokes with zero experience in the game and turn them into stars.

As for the FB agreement: I see where the usual suspects are drooling about it in the usual way. For balance here is a quote off the roar website by one of their leading FB authors:

"It is a profoundly disappointing deal, which does nothing more than spend the league’s newfound bounty."

Sound familiar????

The clubs and the players are both to greedy. They won't be happy until there running the game.

If the fans let them getaway with compromising the comp yr after yr then they will not care much about player wages .

if the players are happy Im happy. Theyre the stars, they deserve a fair chunk of the spoils

I agree that grassroots needs to be looked after but the AFL do this pretty well I think. The clubs also do alright from the AFL. So I have no issue with the players getting a fair share of the revenue. I see the average wage is substantially more than that for nrl players ?

I think the minimum wage is a good indicator of the pay deal as well.


The other point I made I think is relevant don't you think as there was discussion about looking after grassroots however I think the AFL already do this quite well therefore think it is okay to pay the players well. What's your thought on this ?

The nrl fans are in histerics & raging with bitterness jealousy! Over the pay of the AFL players! & the fact that their junior numbers are declining & blame the nrlol HQ for not spending money on grass roots, given the fact that league clubs are apparently there for the RL sporting community.

The AFL players union did a good job organised a good deal, probably a bit to greedy but main thing is as long as it doesn't effect the grassroots of the game. Considering the tossball fans like to point out how much the AFL spend on grassroots in NSW & Qld I don't think there would be to much of an issue
