Feeling The Heat!

Collingwood president Eddie McGuire has rubbished claims made by Swans boss Andrew Ireland, that the league isn't doing enough to promote the game in the northern states.

McGuire's response comes to an article written by Caroline Wilson in Thursday's Age newspaper, with the Collingwood figurehead saying that while he disagreed with Ireland's views, finances at the AFL were tight either way[/
"There is a lot of mouths to feed at the moment in football," McGuire told Triple M's Hot Breakfast in Melbourne.

"The women have played for nothing and that can't go on forever, but what also has happened that people don't realise is that everybody in the clubs and the AFL have worked for nothing getting it (AFLW) up and everyone is at breaking point.

"The finances are tight. That's why the AFL's negotiations with the players are breaking down. Everybody wants more, there is just not enough to go around at the moment.

"There has to be a rationalisation somewhere there."

Without a doubt AFL is trying everything they can to get people into their sport in NSW & QLD.
I agree with Eddie.

Sell out
Lolx1000000000
As has been shown in the past the word SELLOUT when used by the AFL is not what most people associate with the word .

For example
Sellout when there's 1/4 of a stadium empty
Sellout when not one ticket was sold ..oh my that was a gut buster

The AFL propaganda ministry seem to get the not so bright ones to believe anything

I don't have a problem with free entry ...I've had many arguments on here with fumblers who point at Rl & laugh & scoff yet ignore the same happening in their code ...
I do like to point out the blatant propaganda ......sell out ..when in fact there were no tickets sold .
It's a ploy that has been used for a long time in the AFL.....say something ...let the braindead masses absorb it .
Then have a correction a few days later .
By then it's become fact to the not so bright southerners .
We shall see about the China game .
I would be willing to bet there's plenty of vacant seats there .
But that won't matter ..the sell out headline is already out there .

The AFL must see themselves like an EPL or NFL. They just have to realise it is called Aussie Rules for a reason. Few other nations will ever understand or like the game outside Australia.

Soccer is the sport the Chinese are going mad for, and most would not even know what AFL is. Really bizarre playing an AFL game there. Ireland would be a more suitable place for an exhibition match with AFL.

I was reading a few months ago something about how the aim is not about expanding to china but to tap into the Chinese tourists who visit Australia, which I believe is substantial, and get it on the inti dry as a thing to do in Australia when there... see the local game. I think it said this was one reason to have the suns play as well. In saying that, I was thinking what tourist, let alone Chinese tourists, go to Adelaide lol.

AFL should give up on China. Is never going to happen there.
Ireland is their best bet in growing the code to a foreign market.
Everything about AFL reminds me of Irish culture. From the team songs to the uniforms.
To the Gaelic football style plays.

Some one is upset because their little code struggles to sell out games
