We can gauge what a small number of people who follow the 4 different winter codes think is the worst for racism .

I'm voting AFl for obvious reasons .
Too many racist incidents to ignore
From unpunished club bosses to fans
Unwritten one whitey parent rules .
It's fucking disgusting .
It's got to the stage where indigenous players have had to put pen to paper to implore that something is done about it .
Can someone show me where another sport has had to do that in the modern age .

It's funny that recruiters and clubs seem to be blatantly ignoring this 'one white parent rule'

AFL does not deserve to be called the indigenous code with so many racist incidents towards aboriginal players.

AT LEAST one AFL club recruiter has privately admitted to the league that he and his club would be unlikely to draft an indigenous player unless at least one parent were white.

Some clubs have also told the AFL they were now more reluctant than ever about recruiting Aboriginal players because they provided a difficult management issue. Other clubs, however, remain firmly committed to recruiting Aboriginal players.



The AFL approached several recruiters recently to talk in general terms about rumours of unease at some clubs about recruiting indigenous players, and the drop in the number of indigenous players in the game this year. There are 80 indigenous Australians on AFL lists this year, down from 85 in each of the past two years.

The complexity of the varied cultural backgrounds that AFL players come from was brought into sharp focus by the arrest in Yuendumu of Melbourne player Liam Jurrah for an alleged assault with a machete last week.

Jason Mifsud, the AFL's community engagement manager, confirmed there was a disturbing attitude existing at some clubs. ''I have had direct conversations with a number of recruiting officers. A recruiter from one club told me that 'unless they have a white parent we are not going to draft an Aboriginal player, and our club would not be alone in that.' That is a mindset that is permeating back through parts of the industry.

Fortunately, there are still many clubs that embrace Aboriginal talent," said Mifsud, whose role includes managing indigenous affairs.

This year, 21 Indigenous players made it onto an AFL list in the 2016 NAB AFL Draft period, the highest number in 10 years. “The high number of draftees in 2016 will see the total number of Indigenous players in the AFL system reach 81, the first time since 2006 that the number has climbed above 80.

While 12 per cent of NRL players are Indigenous, compared to 4 per cent of the Australian population, the aim is to increase that to 15 per cent, while also boosting the game's Aboriginal work force from 4 per cent to 5 per cent.

So the AFL recruited a higher proportion of indigenous players last year than the proportion currently playing in the NRL.

It's about racism pal. I see the Daily Telegraph finally had a fumbleball story on the back page, albeit a small section at the bottom. And the headline???

"Aliir fears racism poisoning grassroots AFL". So there ya go pal......fumbleball has a raging, stinking culture of racism at all levels.

Racism plays some part in Australian culture unfortunately. It certainly isnt unique to fans of Australian rules.

I don't think it has an issue anywhere nearly as bad as the AFL does.
When was the last time a black player was abused in the NRL like the AFL? You guys seem to get it all the time.

Mate 38% of NRL players are of Polynesian heritage. And is even higher in reserve grades. I would be surprised if AFL even had 1%.
