AFL ETHIAD STADIUM 280MILL LOAN
AFL season 2017: League takes out out loan of $280 million to buy Etihad Stadium
While the AFL purchased Etihad Stadium last year in a bid to "strengthen the financial health" of Victorian clubs, it has emerged the league took out a $280 million loan to fund the deal.
The AFL revealed on Friday it had suffered a $17.8 million loss last season, although the details were not disclosed

Re: AFL TAKES OUT $280 MILLION LOAN
That is what im trying to understand
If AFL have so much money in the bank
Why take out a huge loan $$$
With interest

Re: AFL TAKES OUT $280 MILLION LOAN
Yeah the only reason I can think is the tv revenue money is paid monthly. So maybe AFL don't have the cash in the bank.

I think youll find the AFL like the NRL has other commitments that had to be funded, not unusual.

Yes totally agree. Most of the tv money would already be commited to AFL handouts.Swans4ever wrote: Sun Feb 19, 2017 10:38 amI think youll find the AFL like the NRL has other commitments that had to be funded, not unusual.

It's purely business guys. You are buying a income generating asset so why would you use your own cash to do so. Always use other people's money, let that asset pay off the loan, and right (tezza) off any loses.

Yes. But you don't invest your own money on an income producing asset. Why you think all these millionaires that businesses go broke still live like millionaires

Now that we own Etihad Stadium, time to jack the rental prices up for other codes wanting to use it. Nice move AFL.

Does that mean AAMI stadium can mow be lifted in capacity due to restrictions that it was before hand..
45k would be a great size ground
If so no rectangle code would ever play there again
Bar a few big bash games

Re: AFL TAKES OUT $280 MILLION LOAN
As if the rectangular codes need an increase in capacity when they very rarely ever test capacity of AAMI Park as is. AFLCrap1 surely you'd be against Victorian taxpayer $$$ being wasted like that yeah, esp. considering your stance re: AFL in Queensland?leeroy*NRL* wrote: Sun Feb 19, 2017 6:02 pmNow that the AFL own ethiadBeaussie wrote: Sun Feb 19, 2017 4:57 pmNow that we own Etihad Stadium, time to jack the rental prices up for other codes wanting to use it.
