LOL How does your mind react when you read things like this " According to the 2018 AFL Annual Report, the average gross national audience across free-to-air and subscription television per home and away round was 3.882 million, compared with 4.449 million in 2017 (a decrease of 12.7 per cent)."?

Ignore and look for another thread? Look for a spelling mistake ? , blame it on scheduling , overlap , remotes? Deny :bounce: Not true!, Not true!, Not true!. Or do you but, but. but followed by another excuse???????????????????????????????????????????????????

You're right up there with Mr NFLlaughyboy when it comes to churning out absolute mindless tripe.

Weird you would bring up the 2018 ratings again in another non ratings thread.

How has 2019 started for yas?

I can't believe Mr Crap boy is about the most intelligent of the lot of you. That really says something.

$10,000,000
That's about the amount extra revenue the AFL receives over the NRL,
Not per year folks, per round.

The 2019 figures will be very interesting with the NRLs "incomplete train wreck" still to take its toll.

You have to say though.
The world's least popular sport is pretty commercially popular.
That's good coin. =D

And well and truly the #1!

That’s pretty amazing. I know traditionalist are against it but if you are running the nrl surely at some stage they’ve got to work out how to generate more revenue, and one way to do that is get more adds into the game ... quarters rather than halves would be one way and surely this will happen. The push for larger crowds has not really worked so revenue from there remains stagnant. I would posit that having quarters would extend the game time and create a better game day experience with people feeling they are getting something for their money .. time wise at least. Crowds could therefore go up. The elephant in the room is weather broadcast rights are going to be the cash cow they currently are.

It is very hard for the NRL to get more advertising opportunities..
the more times a team scores the more Advertising breaks there is..

even in a high scoring game 28 - 24 for example..
there still may only be 4 Advertising breaks per half at best.

I could not see the NRL or Rugby League doing quarters>>

i do agree it would make a better day game experience..
because the game feels like it is too short when attending.
for the effort you make in getting there..

That extra 45mins at an AFL game really can make a difference ...

Money does talk, but it is a big thing to change in a game..
there has been talk about it,
but wow it would def change the game in alot of ways.

need fatigue in games,
creates attacking footy and brings in the little players / outside backs.

They trialed it in the All stars games over the years. 4 quarters.
mainly because it was played in FEB and it was Hot..

Half time was the same
quarter time and 3rd quarter was approx 3min break

( i guess you could never say never)

I am serious, perhaps they should trial 4 quarters in the SOO series when, as it appears they might, sell the series as a seperate package.

More breaks, more advertising, more money. I would think it is a great oppurunity to increase the value of the most popular and valuable part of RL and could easily be dropped if it doesn’t work.
