Fifita shows his true colours again

Grand final hero Andrew Fifita is believed to be so disillusioned with being deemed ineligible for Kangaroos selection that he has threatened to quit the NRL, just days after helping the Sharks to a historic premiership.

Fifita is understood to have considered quitting the game after an emotional couple of months, which culminated in him being overlooked for Kangaroos selection just two days after scoring the try that snapped Cronulla's 49-year title hoodoo on Sunday night.

Fairfax Media understands the controversial Cronulla star has this week talked with his management about the prospect of walking away from rugby league in Australia and not returning to the premiers in 2017, despite having two years left to run on his contract.

It would cap a turbulent 18 months for the 27-year-old, who only last month was condemned for wearing arm strapping on which he had written the initials of his friend and convicted one-punch killer Kieran Loveridge. He was also banned for six NRL matches and fined $30,000 last year for abusing a junior rugby league referee.

Cronulla officials said on Wednesday night they had not been contacted by Fifita, or his management, but it is understood they are hoping any threat Fifita has made to quit the NRL is an empty one and that he is simply expressing his frustration at the end of huge week.

Fifita's manager Ben Johnston declined to comment when asked specifically whether his client had sought a release from his deal. Fifita didn't return calls on Wednesday.

If Fifita was to leave the Shire, it would be a huge blow for Shane Flanagan and his side.

Despite being probed about his relationship with Loveridge and being issued with a warning by NSW Police for consorting with criminals, Fifita played a huge role in Cronulla emerging from an end-of-season rut during the finals.

cant punch his way out of it! just pack the boots up & sook off.

its a pretty funny case, reminds me of that other NRLOL player who couldnt work out how to use the door knob so he punched his way through the door! or the Sydney rooters player who was depressed after being turned down by a woman so he tried to root her dog.

You'll get no arguements from me. Supporting a coward puncher publicly was very stupid.

Some how I think he will still remain a hero to the average Cronulla supporter with that winning try.

AFL has their fair share of thugs though. How was Dustin Martins form threatening to stab a women with a chopstick?

Pretty cowardly threatening a women just for telling him to behave.

Really ??.
This shit again .
You made this claim a few years ago & I destroyed your argument

You ran from that thread .

So now it's back to business as usual .
Point the finger at RL even after being shown the AFL is just as bad .

You really are a clueless twit .

You just have to see the amount of cheap shots there are in an AFL game to see which codes players would be more likely to hit someone when they are not looking.
