Titans vs Suns

Well today was one of those rare occasions when both teams played on the same day .
Nice sunny arvo on the GC .
We know the ratings are well in the Titans favour .
Over 80 k more per game watch on the coast .

But what about the crowds .
We have been told over & over how great the Thuns are going .
How bad the Titans are ...how they're dying ..how the Thuns are more popular .

So going by the standard crowd rule of thumb used by fumblers ...today's crowds can be compared .
Not different days
Not day v night
Both on the same afternoon .
Both playing interstate teams

Thuns ..8900
Titans 15k +

Lol
Let's hear the excuses fumblers .

See post on other thread. Average crowd for titans in a rl town. Very poor crowd for suns. Thanks for posting crowds as didnt know.

Who did the titans play? I didnt even know they were playing. I think they are doing a bit better this year and just out of the 8. Hopefully if they make it they get a final. That will be a big crowd.

The fact the Suns are even close let alone in front in what is rl heartland shows not that rl is on the nose but that the Titans are not overly popular. Could you imagine say a Perth or Adelaide rl team matching it with freo or port ?

Scheduling games at 230 on a Saturday for the Suns is just plain stupid as afl on gc is played on Saturday. I have no idea when the play rl. But I think it is probably to do with freo playing and time differences. In saying that it would have only added one or two thousand I reckon. Seasons over for Suns me thinks for most supporters.

The Titans were popular about. 6 yrs ago .
But the management did enormous damage to their fan base during the COE crap .
Off field they were a basketcase ..
Only now they're getting their act together ..
& it shows .
Crowds are on the up .

They have a long long way to go. Not only for the reasons you point out but also because a lot of people who follow rl have their own team they prefer. Same with the suns but the afl people seem to have a strong soft spot for the suns and there are a lot of kids who play afl that have the suns as their side. I just do not see that with the titans. But winning for either side will see crowds and hype grow for sure.
