Great to see AFL grace the back page of the Daily Telegraph on the same day as the NSW v QLD Super 12 clash and the City v Country rugby league clash. :D

Its really a crappy story but the headline was what won the backpage for it. Typical sensationalised shite. But I must say I'm happy the AFL gets the backpage, even if it is only once a season...or less

Go country tonight.

The fact of the matter is, there is more media interest in Maxfield and the Swans than there is in the rugby league and rugby union. All of course when we have a City v Country origin in rugby league and NSW v QLD in the Super 12 tonight. AFL wins the week. :P

Fact of the matter is when the telegraph journos see "I quit for my kids" Their eyes light up like dollar signs. No 2 ways about it beaussie im right you're wrong.

Also the city country match is nothing more than a good live viewing for the promotion of league in country towns. Lismore is RL heartland. SOO players have been picked yonkers ago, country vs city means nothing anymore, good on the telegraph for finding a sob story with kids involved. Perfect journalism! I'm sure the single mums will read the first paragraph for sure

A guy having his marriage wrecked and having to live in Melbourne and commute to Sydney, giving up the club captaincy is anything but sensationalist shite. It is a mega issue relatibng to Sydney's biggest drawing club sporting side.

It is great that it hit the back page. More please!

And, as expected, normality makes a return.

Good to see the Swans with Roos are still on the back page with a 4 page spread inside. :D

Surely A Current Affair and Ray Martin will be knocking on Maxfields door soon! Sensationalised for sure, when joey johns broke up with his fiancee or was it his wife it got a tiny report and so it should have, has nothing to do with character or the sport. But when they snatch a headline saying I'm quitting for my kids a pathetic media cant help themselves.

If anything beaussie this is making things worse for the swans and AFL in sydney. Bloody hell these AFL players, too soft to have a stink on the field, they like to wear girls hairbands, and too soft to do good hard training so instead pep emselves on caffiene before a game. Disgusting!

How so? Ever heard the saying "any publicity is good publicity."

I wouldn't be at all surprised if such practices occur in the NRL too.

Despite the Herald Sun being the owners of the Storm, I doubt very much that they get any more than a 1/4 page 2-3 times a week. No demand for such news it seems.
