Here we go, a hissy fit from the soccer lads over 3mm of grass.
Hey soccer, you want your own grass levels? Well build your own fucking stadiums then.
Fuck I hate soccer and their constant whining in this country.

Considering Football is mainly played on the ground and AFL is played in the air, why do the AFL want the grass so long?
Considering Adelaide Oval is a shared sport facility then isn't it only right that a game that needs grass (football) and AFL that needs open sky the game that needs the grass is accommodated.
You don't think ti makes much difference? I suggest you read Nick Farr-Jones biography. The 1991???? World Cup in England, the final between the Wallabies and England, Twickernham grass was cut short (shorter than what it had been all tournament) and this was seen as a massive advantage to the running rugby played by the Wallabies over the heavy forward play of the English. So for a game like rugby where the ball is being carried the turf was seen as a major factor. Then yes 3mm can be a big deal.

We have Hindmarsh, which is great for week to week, but Adelaide is about to be invaded by a cpl of thousand westies

so we need a bigger boat.
I honestly thought Adelaide oval was built by the SA Government for everyone to use.

it was and is but when governments build new venues they do crunch the numbers about financial viability, & the AO would not be anywhere near the size or had so much spent on it if it wasnt for the AFL

The AFL regularly fills the stadium in Adelaide. Without the AFL there would not have been a massive redevelopment.
Know your place in this country soccer and stop whining about the grass. You don't like it, then fuck off to another stadium or build your own.

The grass takes longer to grow on AFL ovals than rectangular pitches, I thought everyone knew this.
I mean, when I made a garden, I made a round one and a rectangle one, the grass around the rectangle one was always growing twice as fast, dunno why. I even swapped them around to see if it was the drugs I was on but no, the same thing happened, bloody weird ovals and their long grass.

maybe theres a correlation between crowds and growth rates

Maybe, are they the same colour and length as the grass?

Why doesn't someone from A League HQ bring over their victor and give the oval a trim Sunday morning.

Post the Main tenants hold sway at the Oval. (Crows,Port, CA)
Thats what the FFA get for playing the Aleague GF at a oval, stupid if you ask me.
If Adelaide United think they will get funding for Hindmarsh, think again.
United''' We need funds to expand capacity at Hindmarsh.
SA Gov''' Why you can just play at the Ade Oval like you always have, no way guys.

You know why the FFA is playing at Adelaide Oval, only one that can accommodate the number of people (hence why Socceroos games were there) I understand they hold sway, my original point is what the hell do they need grass for, not like AFL is played on the ground
And you are absolutely right that the SA Government will never give anything to a sport that is not AFL or Cricket, almost as bad as the Victorian Government. Any games played on Rectangle fields don't stand a chance.
At least WA has the Rugby, Victoria has League and Rugby plus two football teams, so they get a bit more.

Well maybe SA need to get into bed with the other two rectangle codes (well League as Union is busted out here) and start building for the future. If the state wants big events, it has to show it's willing to fork out and put proper structures in place and at the same time they need a real commitment from whatever sport/s they are romancing.
It's a hard one, the codes aren't that strong in the place with little junior work, then there is the number of teams already in said comps plus the fact others are ahead and will take years themselves to bed in before more expansion. Sorry, but I can't see Adelaide having any "rugby team for at least 30-40 years. If the SL war hadn't happened, they may have been ready to have a team in the not to distant future, but that's busted now.
