Wrong. The olympics is the number one sport on Australian TV. As for footbal codes, according to Morgan research in 2014: AFL is clearly Australia’s most watched Football Code, while V8 Supercars have the local edge over Formula 1

The latest Roy Morgan Research shows that the AFL wins hands down on this front – 7.83 million Australians (41.0%) say they watch the AFL almost always or occasionally on TV, just ahead of Cricket – 7.43 million (38.9%). The nearest local challengers are Tennis – 6.83 million Australians (35.8%), the NRL – 6.73 million (35.3%) and Horse Racing – 6.32 million (33.1%)

also quote..
the last few NRL G.F have out rated the AFL G.F
also: (I find it hard to believe that Soccer is only just half behind NRL and AFL
there ratings are pathetic, bar the odd socceroos game
also Union Lol are you kidding.
AFL: 7.83 million (41.0%). Men: 4.38 million (46.4% of men); Women: 3.45 million (35.7%);
NRL: 6.73 million (35.3%). Men: 4.05 million (43.0%); Women: 2.68 million (27.7%);
Soccer: 4.01 million (21.0%). Men: 2.70 million (28.6%); Women: 1.31 million (13.5%);
Rugby Union: 3.53 million (18.5%). Men 2.41 million (25.6%); Women: 1.13 million (11.6%).
1 FTA NRL game out rates 4 rounds of A League LOL
this article is nonsense.

well well well, results from last night showed the NRL rated a total of 1.089m which included your regionals and fox telecasts. I wouldnt be surprised if this was well under your last year's opener.
Like we have been telling you, simulcast doesnt guarantee more viewers, it merely splits your audience into different networks

GF' ratings are dependant on the matchup and how close the games are. the last few AFL GF's have been very one-sided with hawthorn dominating our competition year after year atm

last years opener was 1.146mill (but was two Sydney teams)
the next night was Broncos v Souths which rated 962k
metro for both games 729 & 606 But big regionals>>
Last nights game had = to that in metro but way lower regionals..
(I do however agree with you with the G.F match ups etc..

That looks even worse for you. Last year's opener didnt even have the Broncos which usually boosts ratings a lot. This year rated less with the Broncos playing, and on fox.
Ouch

235k for Bronx last year with no fox
247k for Bronx this year with fox
what I am stating is the metro's held up
but regionals are way down..
I will have to wait until tonights game to get a better picture of things

Maybe fox is more popular in regional areas since they dont attend games as much as metro areas
